Netflix has unveiled the main trailer for its very first Korean original animation, Lost in Starlight, and it’s a visual and emotional treat.
Set in a retro-futuristic Seoul in the year 2050, the film follows the tender love story between Nan-young, a Mars-bound aspiring astronaut, and Jay, a musician with fading dreams.
Director Han Ji-won paints a rich world blending analog charm with sleek cyberpunk aesthetics, capturing the hopes and heartbreaks of a generation chasing love and ambition. The newly released key art reflects this beautifully—a romantic Earthbound moment between the couple, with Nan-young’s robotic assistant quietly observing, symbolizing the tech-meets-heart tone of the film.
The trailer is a whirlwind of emotions: playful dates across a hybrid of old Seoul and sci-fi cityscapes, slow-burning romance, and the looming question of long distance—225 million kilometers of it. As Nan-young moves closer to realizing her Martian dream, Jay rediscovers his love for music with her by his side. But when she’s offered a second chance to journey to Mars, their love is put to the ultimate test.
With the voices of Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung bringing warmth to the leads, Lost in Starlight promises a story that’s as heart-tugging as it is visually stunning. A dreamy soundtrack, emotional stakes, and futuristic romance? Count us in when it lands on Netflix this May 30.
