During the media conference for the film, the actor has shared insights about his new role. “As an actor, a character without any lines was easy to act but at the same time challenging,” Yoo said.
Clarifying how his character still makes some noise in the movie, he relays his thoughts about Tae-in. “I think he can talk. But it seems like he is declining to communicate with the world because of something that happened to him in the past.”

A new take on crime-themed film
Voice of Silence pairs the actor to character actor Yoo Jae Myung, who was revealed to have obviously anchored most of the talking in the film.
Portraying Chang-bok, he works with Tae-in as a corpse cleaner. Conveying his character’s goal, he said how Chang-bok’s talkative attitude is a way to self-rationalize. His ultimate goal is to earn money and depart from the dirty job.
The contrast in their characters would be highlighted in the defining plot moment of the film. That is when they face a setback for becoming responsible to a kidnapped girl who suddenly died.
Helming the project is director Hong Eui-jeong whose debut work was sci-fi flick Habitat. Hong unveiled her motivation in creating a crime story that deviates from the usual standard. She explained her use of brightly colored scenes instead of somber ones.
Aside from aiming to present the vague line between good and evil, Voice of Silence imparts the lessons on how we should rightfully judge between right and wrong.
