MEET&GREET RECAP: Super Junior and ELFs Express Their Everlasting Love and Support To Each Other During “Super Show 9: Road In Manila”

Super Junior

Showing their love, Super Junior enters the MOA Arena with a heavy heart yet still managed to meet and perform for PH ELFs attending the show.

Days before Super Junior sets to perform for Super Show 9: Road in Manila, a series of unfortunate events unexpectedly happened that made local and international ELFs worried.

On August 3, Label SJ announced that Siwon would not be coming to Manila because he tested positive for COVID. And on the day of the concert, August 6, another news shocked the fans. Eunhyuk failed to depart in Korea due to the sudden passing of his father.

At that time, the rest of the members, LeeteukYesungShindongDonghaeRyeowook, and Kyuhyun, are in Manila deciding if they will push through the Super Show or not.

After long hours of contemplation, Super Junior, their company, Label SJ, Filipino organizers, and promoters have decided to postpone the concert. However, SuJu still wanted to see and greet their fans, even for a short time, and personally thank them and tell them the group’s official decision.

Super Emotional Opening Ment

Sorry Sorry is the song of Super Junior that led them to places because of its addicting melody and dance choreography. But never did ELFs think that the word sorry would be so painful to hear from the legendary group.

First, Host Kring Kim enters the arena to inform the people of the sudden change of events. She eventually called Super Junior to meet their fans.

As soon as Super Junior quietly stepped on stage, they greeted PH ELFs with sadness in their eyes. They repeatedly apologized as they needed to postpone the Super Show in Manila.

Individually, they tried their best to speak.

Shindong, who was the first to deliver a message, was lost for words as he became so emotional.

“Actually, this is very unexpected. I really didn’t know that a lot of you would have come today. I’m really sorry.”

On the other hand, Ryeowook assures the fans that they will return with Siwon and Eunhyuk.

“A lot of you have come today from afar, but I’m really sorry we can’t proceed with the concert today. Please stay safe and we will meet a lot frequently in the future so do not worry. We will make sure we’ll come back here with Eunhyuk and Siwon next time… Thank you so much.”

Meanwhile, Donghae expresses his sorrow due to the situation they are facing. He says “I’m sorry” is the only expression he could give the fans.

“First of all, I am really speechless and I really can’t think of what to say to all of you… And to my friend, who is facing a very unfortunate situation in Korea, Eunhyuk, I am also deeply saddened right now… I’m really really sorry [ELF]. I love you.”

As the opening ment continues, Yesung shares how much he missed the PH ELFs. He promised that they would give a better performance next time.

“Just like how you guys missed us and have waited for us, we really really missed you and we really waited for this moment… Sincerest apologies to you all. But on the other hand, thinking that we will be able to meet you more often really makes me feel more better. So, we will make sure to give you guys a better performance next time… Thank you so much.”

Even Kyuhyun cannot contain his unhappiness, but he is glad to see they are with ELFs who filled up the arena.

“Mabuhay, I’m Kyuhyun. First of all, it’s really saddening that we will not be able to see you while smiling. I know for sure you’ve come long way, but seeing this concert filled with all of you guys is really exciting for me. Thank you all for coming.”

Super Junior

Lastly, Super Junior’s leader, Leeteuk, informs everyone that they went through a lot of discussions before and after coming to Manila if they would proceed with the Super Show. He tells the fans they eventually decided to postpone it and tried to uplift ELFs’ mood by saying,

“Our super show is happy and fun. This is a show that gives you hope. To give you more fun, excitement, and hope, this concert is not canceled, but rather is postponed… Just think of it as if you guys bought the tickets early.”

Leeteuk also personally requested the promoters for Super Junior to hold 2 Super Shows in Manila, respecting those affected by the concert’s postponement. He also said that Super Junior would come back as soon as possible.

“To my love, ELFs, and to all my staff, to be all happy, we’ll all come back as soon as possible. There at the center, there will be Siwon. And beside me, someone who’s a kind of doppelganger, Eunhyuk. And now, I’m a little bit happier now that I can see you once again today…”

Super Tearful Performances

Leeteuk said they did not want to leave after greeting their fans. That is why they prepared and sang for their precious PH ELFs, which made everyone teary-eyed. He said,

“To ELFs who become more beautiful and pretty, we have actually prepared, all the members of Super Junior, a little gift for you… You know, it’s sad if we will just go back in Korea without doing anything. That is why we have a song for you. To the forever love between ELFs and Super Junior, this is My Wish.”

Even Super Junior barely holds onto their tears while singing My Wish, Callin’, and More Days With You. Because of these three emotional dragging songs, Super Junior became so affected, and some members even shed tears.

Super Junior

For the first time, the funny and chaotic Super Junior performed on Super Show with sadness written on their faces. Likewise, the Filipino fans, PH ELFs, known to have the loudest screams, softly sang along with SuJu. Sharing the same feeling, the same pain, ELFs comforted Super Junior through chanting ‘gwenchana’ (It’s okay.) and ‘saranghae’ (I love you.).

Super Junior and PH ELFs’ Bittersweet Goodbye

Before officially bidding their farewell, Leeteuk gives their last message to their PH ELFs.

“Thank you so much for loving and supporting us. Thank for being with us as well. We will make sure to greet you next time with healthy members. Maraming salamat po!”

Wrapping up the short fan meet, Super Junior members bowed and waved their fans goodbye. Also, Leeteuk went to all sides of the stage to bow again, showing a sign of respect and gratefulness to PH ELFs.

One by one, Super Junior members left the Super Show stage. And for the last time, PH ELFs clapped and cheered for the group. ELFs know and Believe that they will come back stronger than ever.
It was a meaningful meeting full of respect, love, care, and comfort that only a family could give and offer. Through thick and thin, indeed, Super Junior and ELFs are constantly there for each other, just like a family like No Other.
