AN ALBUM LIKE NO OTHER

The masterminds behind the incredible project are two talented European musicians namely Philipp Jundt, a Swiss flutist who lived in South Korea for 12 consecutive years, and Marco Hertenstein, a German composer and Jundt’s friend, who went to Seoul to collaborate with his fellow musicians.

“Shades of Love: Korean Drama Soundtracks is a hymn that connects my two lives. It’s a poetic way of bringing together friends, music and emotions from both worlds,” Jundt shared.

Both Jundt and Hertenstein worked together to narrow down the choices for their compilation album. The latter also wrote two new Korean-inspired flute concerto pieces namely “Shades of Love – Red” and “Shades of Love – Blue.”

Hertenstein shared his creative process saying, “When realizing the arrangements I found myself drawn to the classic Mozart-style orchestra, basically comprising strings, horns and oboes. I reimagined both melodies and harmonies, and also added new sections and instrumental parts. It was important to me, however, not to distort the character of the originals and to set the strengths of the soloists and their soulful melodies on an equal footing with the orchestral accompaniment.”

Meanwhile, the album will be released on July 9 via Deutshe Grammophon’s website. It will also be available via music popular streaming platforms, Pure Audio Blu-Ray and Dolby Atmos. Songs such as “The Song for My Brother” from the drama Crash Landing on You and “Mr. Sunshine – Main Theme” from Mr. Sunshine were already last June 4 and June 25 digitally.
