Bad Buddy Episode 2 Key Moments
It’s the morning after the night before, and while Pran is getting up at 07:00 a.m., showering, dressing, grabbing breakfast, and getting ready in a timely fashion, Pat is sleeping in until five minutes before he needs to leave. Somehow, though, despite living in dormitories directly across from each other, they still manage to miss each other and don’t realize that the other lives directly across from them.
“Don’t you know that we can’t fight here?”
Pat’s friends decide to get some curry for lunch, but when he messages Pran, he finds out that he and his friends are already there. As part of their agreement, Pat and Pran decide to keep their warring groups of friends away from each other. This leads to either Pat or Pran constantly moving their friends away from wherever they were going in order to avoid the other group of friends.
When the two groups do eventually meet for the first time in a while, Pran notices a security camera above them. In order not to get caught fighting, he makes up a lie about how the engineering and architecture students cannot fight where they are because the two of them built the area they’re currently in together.
That night, Pat and Pran, in their respective dormitories, accidentally receive each other’s meals. Pran mistakenly eats Pat’s salad that came with his chicken, and when he finds out what has happened from the delivery driver, he drops off some drinks on Pat’s door to apologize. Pat notices the lovely handwriting, and mistakenly thinks that “the girl in the dorm across from him” has a crush on him, and leaves a gift on his door.
“In order to get a girl, I must be more charming than that.”
Pran tells his friends how he’s received a gift from his neighbor across the hall. Unlike Pat, he recognizes that it’s from another man based on the male particle in the language being used. He says that it’s just a gift, but his friends tease him that a man has a crush on him.
Meanwhile, Pat tells his friends about how he’s been flirting with “the girl across the hall”, but that he hasn’t met her yet. He drops off yet another gift, this time with a note asking that his secret crush meet him on the roof to look at the moonlight.
Pran goes to the roof that night, only to end up meeting Pat, who gets the surprise of his life. But when another girl comes up to the roof and Pat starts mistakenly flirting with her, Pran realizes that it was in fact him who was being flirted with.
“Does this mean I just broke your heart, Mr. Dumpling?”
On the roof, Pat and Pran jokingly tease each other about the mistaken situation. They thank each other for the gifts, and move on with their lives.
At the bar afterwards, Pat refuses to tell his friends about what happened on the rooftop. But his friends are quickly distracted when they realize that one of the waiters is Pran’s friend Wai, who they spent most of the previous episode fighting. When Wai serves them their beers, the friends throw ice, forcing him to clean it up, before tripping him over.
As Pran has his friends over at his dormitory, Pat comes by with his friends to go to his dormitory. However, Pat’s friends decide to start knocking on the door and calling out for the “girl across the hall” to come out. As Pran has to try and stop Wai from opening his door, Pat eventually has to inform his friends that the girl next door was, in fact, a guy.
After Pran’s friends have left, he and Pat get into an argument. They start accusing one another of disturbing the peace and causing difficulties. While the two of them are in Pat’s dormitory complaining about one another, there’s a knock on the door. When Pat checks the door, he realizes that the man on the other side is his father.
“They’re driving me crazy. I’m so done with them.”
Pat forces Pran to hide under the bed as he answers the door to his father. As Pat’s father speaks poorly about Pran’s family, he is forced to hold his breath and his tongue from under the bed. Pat tries to defend Pran’s family, but his father continues to complain about them.
He then remarks on a time when Pat was a drummer and Pran used to follow him around with his guitar. After Pat’s father leaves, a disillusioned Pran walks out of the dormitory with an apology.
The next day, Pat tells his sister about the occurrence last night. His sister tells him that he’s feeling guilty about what their father and Korn did, and that he should instead clear the air with Pran once and for all.
In a flashback, Pat and Pran are members of the same band at school, singing a Christmas song. However, Pran’s parents come along and notice that the two of them are performing together. Pran’s mother, furious about the situation, forces him to transfer schools, much to the disappointment of both himself and Pat.
Another flashback shows both Pat and Pran arguing over who is going to move and transfer schools. While inspecting a property, Pat comes over because Pran refuses to answer his calls. As the two jokingly fight, they end up one on top of the other on the bed. When the agent comes back in, she mistakenly believes that the two of them are having an encounter.
Back in the present day, the architecture and engineering students – minus Pat and Pran – are brawling at the pavilion with the security camera. As they fight, they destroy and completely break it into pieces at the same time.
Bad Buddy Episode 2 Musings
While the first episode of Bad Buddy may have seemed rather slow, throwing viewers into the middle of everything and leaving them to fight their way out, the second episode picks up the pace a little but lets us in more to the story.
The comedic elements of this episode really highlight the quality of the story and the acting. The classic gag of trying to keep groups of people away from each other so they don’t notice is used to great effect. And it also gives the viewer something to laugh at as it goes on. And while definitely used as a comedic element, it also showcases Pat and Pran’s true friendship towards one another.
Not the only comedic element of the story, Pat and Pran constantly missing each other in the hallway despite living directly across from one another finally come to a close in this episode as they recognize one another. The use of the mistaken identity trope also really lifts this plot as both a storyline and a joke.
The comparison between the warring families and constantly fighting schools of the university is also clear through Pat and Pran’s friendship. While the two of them just want to get along, every outside environmental factor says that they should be nemeses.
And, of course, to the delight of all BL fans, this second episode also features a close encounter between the main couple which doesn’t actually involve them getting together.
