Shooting Stars Opening Week Story
More than the spotlights and the booming sounds of the fans cheering, Shooting Stars centers around writers, reporters, and individuals who work behind what we see on stage and in dramas.
Oh Han-byeol (Lee Sung Kyung) is the head of the PR team who works diligently. She’s having a hard time separating her work and personal life. Han-Byeol goes to dates, but her phone keeps ringing and leaves her no choice but to attend to her work affairs.
Meanwhile, Gong Tae-sung (Kim Young Dae) is the top star of Starforce Entertainment, and his fans are very eager to catch a glimpse of him. Known as a charitable and kind-hearted actor, Tae-sung has blood toward Han-byeol.
Tae-sung went to Africa for a year and held a charity event for the African children. When he came back, he now starts to pester Han-byeol and keeps reminding her of what happened six years ago.
However, Han-Byeol is busy with her work, and she needs to attend a medical examination with Yoon-Hye and Joong-Hoon. The three are having a hard time focusing on their agendas because they need to do something urgently.
Moreover, the team of Han-byeol speculates that something is going on with her and Tae-Sung. That’s when Dae-Soo (also a manager) retells what happened six years ago between the two.
When Han-byeol is still a rookie, she publishes an article about Tae-sung being impotent. As a newbie, she is shocked because she checked the article well before posting. After that, their department got a lot of calls from other writers and reporters.
Bursting with fury and rage, Tae-sung went to the office and hunts down Han-byeol. She keeps running until she hides in the comfort room, but Tae-sung still chases her — and that’s the time when the most unexpected thing happens!
Ending the second episode, a co-worker of Han-byeol browses some files and finds a picture of Tae-sung and Han-byeol making a heart using their hands. This is how they found out that the two are ex-lovers during their college days!
Shooting Stars Opening Week Musings
Ever since Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo, many fans anticipate seeing her again in a romantic-comedy drama. This time, Sung Kyung has an excellent pairing with Young-Dae, who also stars in Extraordinary You.
Shooting Stars has a very well-written plot because it focuses on the people behind the curtains who are doing a very challenging job in taking care of their artists. We also saw in these two episodes the handsomeness and charisma of Tae-Sung, especially during the photoshoot scenes.
Moreover, the two episodes mainly focused on the life of the reporters and writers who did their best to do their jobs. The drama is kind of slow-paced because Han-Byeol and Tae-Sung’s first conversation happened at the end of the first episode.
However, those mini epilogues at the end of each episode satisfy our anticipation for the next one because it offers us some scenes that clear some of our questions about the relationship between the two.
It’s heart-fluttering to see Tae-Sung waited for a call and a letter from Han-Byeol when he was in Africa. His expression also lights up when he catches a glimpse of her during a video call to his manager. Knowing that they are in a relationship before, we should wait on their ventures both in love and career.
Shooting Stars airs every Friday and Saturday. International fans may watch on Viu.
