“Forget everything and put it all behind you now.”

Discovering the board of Chang, Soo-jae realizes the connection between Chan and his stepmom who recently visited the legal clinic, and makes sense of the reactions she saw. 

Chan runs to visit his father to convince his stepmom to run a DNA test on the skeletons found at the construction site, but he is instructed to leave everything as it is since he had a name change.

Frustrated by that, Chan gets drunk and gets into a fight. Seeing Chan soaked in the rain, Soo-jae brings him an umbrella but tells him not to talk to her unless she initiates it.

Visiting No Byung-chul, Chan confirms that the man did not murder his stepsister.

Meanwhile, Soo-jae and Chairman Han visit the funeral of the victims at the construction site. The Chairman gets grabbed by the collar and gets hospitalized.

Instead of being angry, the Chairman is satisfied with what happened since he can win pity votes.

Ready to apologize, Chan’s stepmom breaks down again as he admits he is Kim Dong-gu and persuades her to run a DNA test.

“Money disgusts me.”

Mediating with the families of the victims, Soo-jae convinces her old classmate to accept the compensation since she was able to convince the company to offer the maximum monetary compensation.

In the car with Chairman Choi, Soo-jae gets offered to marry Ju-wan. However, she walks out and tells the chairman that like him, she has never done anything for the benefit of others.

Separated by distance, Chan and Soo-jae talk on the phone. Chan tells Soo-jae that he is sure that the skeleton is his stepsister’s, and she asks if he has definite evidence. 

A flashback shows how Director Baek, mentor of Soo-jae, advises her on what to do at the trial considering her family members who were detained for fraud. Knowing all those, she did not further argue about the fingerprints found in the knife, wherein at present she feels guilty she gave up that time.

“So I waited for the right moment. I believed that day would come.”

What happened in the past is revisited where Soo-jae feels guilty for giving up on the case, and decides to work on the law firm. No Byung Chul takes the fall for the murder case, so Chan gets released.

Overhearing a conversation when he was about to be released, Kim Dong-gu sees men talking about his case, and notices the man talking has a tattoo on his wrist.

Drinking with his brother Ju-wan, Yoon-sang hears what happened in the murder case where Soo-jae deliberately lost.

It is revealed that Director Baek looked after Chan throughout the years even encouraging him with law school through brochure mails.

Now moving to her building, Soo-jae spends the night with Jun-hee and Lawyer Song where they see her board on the case 10 years ago. 

Finally, Ji Soon-ok agrees to run a DNA test since Na-jung’s DNA records cannot be found on the portal.  

Jun-hee calls at the right time, and informs Soo-jae about how they have mistaken Eun-seo as Na-jung before. Soo-jae asks direct questions to Yoon Se-pil after hearing also that Eun-seo’s body showed signs of sexual assault.

No Byung-chul is reported to have committed suicide in prison. Meanwhile, Director Baek becomes the minister of justice.

Chan realizes that Director Baek has already known that he was not the murderer of his stepsister. He questions the director’s actions, and feels offended for calling the horrific case a miracle on his part as a powerless father.

“The truth is always revealed in the end.”

Lawyer Seo, now a partner at TK Law firm after being removed from being a professor, is ordered not to give much information about the Ungju Stepsister murder case to Yoon-sang. 

In a call, Mr. Ha airs his frustration with the suicide of No Byung Chul as reported by the warden. He also becomes shocked to discover that Gong Chan is Kim Dong-gu, and he informs Chairman Choi, who is also angered by the news since they thought they have killed him in the past.

A lecture set by Yoon-sang opens up the case Soo-jae lost, the Ungju Stepsister murder. With Professor Seo, details from the past are revisited. 

Rushing to Director Baek, Soo-jae is brought to see Eun-seo in the nursing home. Realizing how the director messed up an innocent life, Director Baek and Yoon Se-pil justify their decisions by saying they prepared for a long time for this revenge.

Unknown that Yoon-sang is in a call with Soo-jae, Chan says that it does not matter if Soo-jae gave up in his case since she was the only one who believed in him, and encouraged him to continue living.

Naturally choosing one’s family at desperate times, decisions made by Soo-jae and Director Baek create a damaging effect on Chan’s family.

Evident how Chan’s life was sacrificed, his innocence was disregarded while the real suspects are living their lives abundantly.

Usually, anger would be the major emotion inside a person, but for Chan, Soo-jae sincerely believing in him was enough to understand her decision to choose her family at that time.

Consoling the families of the victims at the construction site, Soo-jae’s sincerity can be sensed in her offering the maximum compensation that could be given. On the other hand, a man who has everything like Chairman Han trashes humanity and creates an act to save his company’s image.

Fathers who hold a high position have bred problematic sons, who cause trouble and walk scathe-free. Powered by fathers who choose to sweep dirt under the rug, the truth is easily manipulated.
