Confessions and confrontations continue in episode 8 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo. And it’s such a heartening moment to see Woo Young-woo growing up emotionally before our very eyes.
The outsmarting courtroom battle between Hanbada and Taesan also proceeds to save Sodeok-dong. Finally, Young-woo gets clear answers from his father about why she grew up without a mother.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 8 Highlights
Team Hanbada is up for a hard-to-pull-off case about a road development project that impacts a neighborhood. The lawyers also compete with Team Taesan led by Tae Su-mi who turns out to be Young-woo’s mother.
After a sweet moment with Jun-ho, Young-woo goes home and had a disappointing chat with her father. His overprotectiveness was not appreciated by his daughter who knows her situation and wants to be treated like an adult, regardless.
“I truly feel robbed seeing someone use personal connections to be handed the job of attorney at Hanbada, which I gave up my youth to earn.”
Inevitably, Min-woo’s post stirs gossip at Hanbada. But given her clueless self, Young-woo didn’t realize she was being talked about until Su-yeon pointed it out and defended her from the gossiping people at work.
Their team is also being pressed by CEO Han not to lose the case against Tae Su-mi and appeals to use a less romantic but political approach.
Unfortunately, on the day of the onsite inspection, the weather didn’t cooperate as rain poured at Sodeok-dong. To make the situation worse, the residents who were previously passionate to fight for the neighborhood already signed an agreement with Taesan. Approximately 70% of the residents had signed to agree with the project should the compensation provided will be increased.
Giving the judges the same tour they gave Hanbada lawyers; the lead judge honestly orders both camps to bring the consent forms that would make the claim push through or get canceled.

Taesan and Hanbada race to get the consent forms they need, but Taesan’s people are seemingly winning the people’s hearts.
When Young-woo noticed her bag might have been left at the hackberry tree rest house, she meets Tae Su-mi there. Previously, they had a quick chat and Su-mi shared that she remembered why her name is familiar.
That is because of the work she did in the “wedding gown that slipped” case.
Su-mi advises how Hanbada is leaning toward a lost cause for not considering how people’s minds are weak when it comes to money. She hands Young-woo her business card to which she awkwardly accepts.
From afar Min-woo sees them and later confronts Young-woo about their conversation. Young-woo responds if revealing what they discussed would land on the office forum again. She also warns him that if he does something like that again, she won’t sit still.
Min-woo adds salt to her wound by saying that even if he did not post it, the reality is true that she got in because of her connections.
Dragging her whale luggage out of their house, Young-woo tells her father that she will move out. She also informs him that she will leave Hanbada and move to Taesan since she got invited by Tae Su-mi.
Young-woo’s father is left with no choice but to reveal her mother’s identity.

The revelation, unfortunately, caused Young-woo to fall on the stairs. When she woke up in the hospital, her father chronicled why she never met her mother.
Young-woo confessed knowing that she was abandoned when her grandmother blurted it out when she got drunk one time.
Young-woo’s father narrates how he begged Su-mi to let her live and promised he will not make any contact with her at all.
Fulfilling that promise, Young-woo’s father regretted not pushing him to pursue law so he could have helped or provided her opportunities.
Listening to her father’s words, Young-woo finds a way to save Sodeok-dong by using the value of the majestic hackberry tree in the neighborhood.
The next day, they head to the regional office to inquire about the findings on the initial submission and if the tree qualifies to be taken care of as cultural heritage.
“That day my heart rate was really high. Even though I didn’t touch you at all, my heart was beating fast.”
While Park Eugene checks on the documents Young-woo and Jun-ho asked for; the two are in an awkward moment. It turns out “that day” at Lawyer Jung’s office when they almost kissed – Young-woo escaped the scene hurriedly.
Young-woo explains how her heartbeat raced that day and honestly affirms that she thinks she likes him. Just when Jun-ho attempts to respond to that heartfelt declaration, she sees Park Eugene leaving the office.
It turns out that Park Eugene fooled Mr. Choi and Mr. Jang about the survey done in 2016. The Sodeok-dong tree was never even properly assessed for its value.
Noticing the same umbrella Park Eugene has been the same as the one the judge brought last time, Team Hanbanda successfully sneaks an argument of unfair trial if the judge had the intention to buy an apartment being backed up by Kyungpo construction. The same construction company that will take Haengbok-ro project.
In the end, the tree at Sodeok-dong was designated as a natural moment. It leaves a great chance for Hanbada to win regardless of whether the court will change or not.
Young-woo meets Tae Su-mi to decline the offer to work at Taesan Law Firm. She reveals who she is and explains how she will stay at Hanbada.
When Tae Su-mi asked if she resents her, tears faintly welled in Young-woo’s eyes and answered how it felt good when they were staring at the tree together. She confessed wanting to meet her at least once and is grateful for meeting her.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 8 Musings
Episode 8 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo puts forward Young-woo’s brave stance as an adult who knows her emotions well. She knows her situation well, still, she does not want her father to be always shielding her. We can’t wait for her unique processing of emotions as she navigates her career and social interaction the best way she can.
Continuously sporting her phenomenal portrayal, we would all be angry if Park Eun Bin won’t get an award in this drama.
That heartfelt and agonizing scene of Young-woo honestly conveying her longing for her mother was so beautiful and heartbreaking.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo has this habit of leaving the poignant scenes in the waning moments of the episode. In a way, it drives the lingering effect and makes a convincing crowning moment to the story in each chapter.
Guess we will have to wait a little more for Young-woo’s romance adventure to blossom. But at least we know we are getting there.
