Doctor Cha Episode 11 and 12 Highlights
After a refreshing drive with So-ra, they head for a second round of chat with some alcohol and chips. Sora confesses she knows about the affair and shares how her mother had gone through the same situation. A step closer to sharing and empathizing Jeong-suk’s pain, So-ra somehow appeased the pain.
Unable to sleep, Jeong-suk picks up the gifts her unfaithful husband gave to her and throws everything into his room. She also confronts her husband and Seung-hee demanding the latter to leave the hospital.
Belatedly, Jeong-suk also learns how her children knew the situation from In-ho who explained the children are worried about her health condition. In contrasting mother-and-daughter conversations: Jeong-suk talks to I-rang who is more concerned about her. She also encourages her mom to do what she wants.
Meanwhile, Seung-hee struggles to handle Eun-seo’s pain who won’t be able to use her hand and will miss getting options to choose top art universities. In a conversation with In-ho, the latter also made clear that he won’t be getting a divorce since he relied a lot on Jeong-suk.
When a fire broke out in the resident’s dorm, Dr. Roy flawlessly secured Jeong-suk and hands her to In-ho who barely managed to crawl in the area. Tension continues to rise between the two until it culminates in a fight in front of medical staff and patients in the ER.
“If you made a mistake, admit it and ask for forgiveness. Don’t forget your mistake and learn from it. So that you can make the right judgments. So that you can hel0 even more people. That’s how we’ll become doctors.”
Previously, Jeong-suk’s patient Jiseon who suffers from colon cancer but insisted on delivering her baby was excited to get out of the hospital. Although her baby needs to stay more in the hospital, she looks forward to caring for her.
Her condition is bleak as she can pass away anytime. On the day, she would bring her baby home, she apparently was checked because of some pain she felt.
Jung-min who gave consent to send her home against the Family Medicine’s initial take to run some tests faces a predicament when Ji-seon unfortunately died. Jeong-suk and In-ho go to Ji-seon’s funeral but was met with hostility from her grieving parents who questioned the decision to discharge her was not consulted with her guardian.
Giving In-ho the task to speak with their son, Jeong-suk went on a date with I-rang to give her encouragement for failing the mock exam.
She explains how she intentionally wanted a life before where her children relied on her. In turn, I-rang vocally expressed how happy she is for how she was raised.
Unable to sleep, Jeong-suk finds herself at Ji-seon’s funeral. Getting strength from each other, she and Ji-seon’s mother share a hug.
Jeong-suk explains understanding why Ji-seon wanted to bring her baby into the world despite her situation. She deems it is her way to make her parents feel happy when she’s gone. When Ji-seon’s mom asks why she’s not apologizing for what her son did, she responds that she’s not in the position to do so.
Meeting his father, In-ho makes a great pep talk on the process of how doctors grow. He also reassures him that there are things that he’s even better compared to him.
Mustering his emotional strength, Jung-min visited Ji-seon’s funeral. It also helps that Sora gave him the support he needs. However, Ji-seon’s parents’ decision to sue the hospital for malpractice still stands. Even Dr. Kim who wants to explain Ji-seon’s case was turned down.
“Let’s get a divorce.”
Sensing her daughter seems to be going through a problem the last time she visited, Jeong-suk’s mom calls In-ho’s mom to check about the couple. Evading the question, In-ho’s mom asks her to meet and brings her to a renowned doctor who was on-point with her current failing medical health that she’s hiding from Jeong-suk.
When In-ho’s mom offers for them to have dinner together, Jeong-suk’s mom reminds her that it is her late husband’s memorial service.
During dinner after paying respect to In-ho’s father, his mom proposes to stop doing the service and go for a regular family dinner. Confessing she’s seeing someone also surprised the family.
While washing the dishes, In-ho mocks his mother’s twilight romance and quips its impact for Jeong-suk who will get a new father-in-law.
Taking the opportunity of them being alone, Jeong-suk finally brings up that she’s filing for a divorce. Politely citing the reasons why they can no longer be married, she revealed citing the disabled sticker on his car was the last straw that made her decide he was worth letting go.
Just then, blood flows from In-ho’s nose. Probably the stress and shock hit him straight and be knocked out by Jeong-suk’s decision.
Doctor Cha Episode 11 and 12 Musings
Definitely a decision that Jeong-suk deserves, the penultimate week of Doctor Cha knows how to play its card well.
We just hope that In-ho would at least be man enough to understand the least he can do for what his wife suffered is to allow her decision to leave the marriage.
Consistently sprinkling the series with ample career, life and love lessons, the fading moments of episode 12 is a great video to play if you have problematic friends who struggle to accept that there are marriages worth saving.
Often mistresses are pictured to have this unreasonable belief that pulling we-are-in-love cards is acceptable. In the case of Seung-hee, armed with the truth that she is In-ho’s first love, it made her more blind to understand that her relationship is still deemed unacceptable by societal and moral standards.
But then, it’s nice that her character is irrational all throughout. The possibility of her self-destructing because of problems she could have avoided harps on how the bad choices we force to appear to look good are ticking bombs that would only hurt us in the process.
Although both Jung-min and I-rang are understanding of their parents’ problems, it does not mean they are spared feeling the stress from it. It results in them being unable to be in top shape to do their tasks.
Will Jeong-suk claim the freedom she deserves? Can the hospital be reprieved for Jung-min’s mistake?
