Hong-jo and Shin-yu use two spells from the Book of Curses for their personal use in the 2nd week of Destined With You.
But the target of the love spell did not go as planned.

Destined With You Episodes 3 and 4 Highlights
Previously, Shin-yu approached Hong-jo about a box bearing the key to his existing concern.
The box carries a book of spell that only Hong-jo can cast. He asks her to keep all the rest of the spells except the one that he needed.
“Let us disappear for a day.”
As Shin-yu’s condition worsens, he asks Na-yeon they need to take a break from their relationship.
Meanwhile, Hong-jo also resorts to using the love spell to Jae-kyung and she carries out the deed by pouring the love potion water on his cup at a meeting.
Unfortunately, she is unsure if Jae-kyung drank the water when she was informed that the flower pot strip, she helped build with the elders was destroyed.
She goes to meet Shin-yu to determine what corresponding legal action to take. Eventually, she learns she’s talking to the actual culprit.
He then tells her to take a leave as they need to do something.
“For some people you might be attractive, but for me you are not even half of half of half as attractive as samgyupsal.”
Finally seeing Hong-jo’s popular confession video, Jae-kyung approached her teammates and asked them to delete the video right there and then.
Shin-yu brings Hong-jo to his villa and she learns how he is hoping the cure for the disease would work.
Strangely, as he stares at her, he finds her more beautiful than before. After getting a plant from Jirisan, they proceed with casting the spell. However, Shin-yu didn’t feel a noticeable change except from being gravitated to Hong-jo strangely.
Receiving a call from Jae-kyung, Hong-jo tells Shin-yu that if the love spell she cast worked, it would mean his curse would also be dispelled. While she is over the moon receiving a dinner invite from Jae-kyung, Shin-yu feels annoyed about it.
“Your destinies cannot be severed.”
On D-DAY of Hong-jo meeting Jae-kyung, Shin-yu gets the information on where the two will be meeting. He also traced if Jae-kyung drank the water from the meeting. Realizing it was him who actually drank it; hence, he felt a strange attraction for her.
Relaying it to Hong-jo, they try to find ways to break the curse to no avail. Even Shin-yu’s grandmother couldn’t be of help.
Na-yeon learns from Shin-yu’s father about his sickness. Still, the love spell-driven attraction Shin-yu feels for Hong-jo is strong.
Later, Hong-jo gets the surprise of her life when the new tenant in the house turns out to be Jae-kyung.
Off to go somewhere, Shin-yu tags along and realizes why Hong-jo does not want to share why she can’t reverse the love spell.
Destined With You Episodes 3 and 4 Musings
Interestingly, Destined With You is such an engaging watch with its simple narrative. And it is smartly written, too. Shin-yu’s struggle with the love-spell-generated attraction is a delightful watch.
We can foresee Hong-jo being in a dilemma of choosing between natural and magical love from Jae-kyung and Shin-yu. Especially now that Jae-kyung and Hong-jo will live close by, we can only imagine what lovestruck Shin-yu will do.
This is actually an adorable scenario set by this drama. We thought the cuteness would be driven by Hong-jo, but Shin-yu is actually in charge of it.
Also, Hong-jo’s not-so-good relationship with Na-yeon will take a higher notch owing to Shin-yu’s inescapable situation of fighting the attraction from the love spell.
It was hinted they had a previous boy problem which made this situation a potential conflict. It’s also good that Hong-jo somehow finds an ally at work and won’t be faintly bullied.
Glimpses of the past connection shared by Hong-jo and Shin-yu support their tangled fates at present. Still, since the story has just started, we can anticipate more surprises.
Rowoon as Shin-yu looks awkward but charming at the same time. His cheesy lines would make you cringe but draw a smile effortlessly.
As we await whether Hong-jo was able to dispel Shin-yu’s curse, we can draw possible theories of how the two spells might either work together or contradict each other.
