Destined With You

Destined With You Episodes 13 and 14 Highlights

“I’m the one who put the curse on you.”

Asking Shin-yu to give her time to think things through, his reassurance that the past does not matter can’t get through Hong-jo.

He respects her decision. Fighting her emotions out of fear that she can cause problems for Shin-yu, she wallows in despair.

Even when he goes to her place drunk to remind her of the promise she made that she will come to him, Hong-jo remains resolute to keep her distance from him.

However, Shin-yu discovers a curse literally planted inside the plant gifted by Na-yeon. He confronts her about it and tells Hong-jo to be extra careful.

True to Shin-yu’s worry, the gardener makes a move to scare Hong-jo. Fortunately, Jae-kyung caught him lurking near their place and alerted Shin-yu who came just right in time.

Asserting his presence, he does not allow Hong-jo to stay at her place and brings her home to his.

Destined With You

“I have seen the future. There is no place for me beside you. You will protect the king, win honor, get a wise wife and continue your family line.”

A glimpse of the past between Aeng-cho and Mu-jin reveals how the latter was forced by his father to marry someone. He pleads Aeng-cho to run away with him but she refuses and even tells him that her affection for him is not enough to consider his request.

That is because Mu-jin’s father threatened him to end her relationship by harming the woman who raised her.

Later though, Aeng-cho was summoned to the palace by the King’s concubine to help her conceive a prince.

Reuniting with Mu-jin they renew their relationship. Unfortunately, the concubine threatens her to curse the crown prince or else Mu-jin will suffer the consequences.

Interrogated by the king when the crown prince became ill, she was almost slain by the king but hearing her curse stopped her. Thrown inside a well, Aeng-cho was rescued by Mu-jin. After nursing her the whole night, he departs with the book of curses Aeng-cho did to try to save her.

Unbeknownst to him, the concubine has already a plan in place and Mu-jin is cornered. Sensing danger, Aeng-cho left her place but the palace guards caught up on her.

Because of the curse she declared, Shin-yu can’t bear the thought of his lover being dismembered. With that, he stabs her with a knife with his own hand.

Back at present, Hong-jo decides to stay with her mother’s friend and gets news from Jae-kyung about Shin-yu’s condition. He also leaves her voice messages that make her miss him even more.

When she receives a message to go to a place so Shin-yu’s life can be spared, she surprisingly sees him.

Confessing his love in the past and at present, Shin-yu leads her hand to his face. Something that he can’t bear to do in the past. Pulling her into his embrace, Hong-jo gives in and surrounds her hand to his body.

Destined With You Episodes 13 and 14 Musings

The trip to the past clarifies the woes and fears of Hong-jo. It also explains the origin of the curse and the reincarnatioj concept of how the people we interact at present could be part of our past lives as well.

Destined With You is shaping up to align with its title so after this week’s episodes, we can guarantee a happy ending.

Viewers can trust the power of true romance can save the day for the lovers bound by a curse, and at the same time a love spell.

Speaking of spells, there are still things that the story has not cleared up regarding the spells Hong-jo initially cast. It can also be said that this aspect of the series was not utilized fully.

Truth be told, a lot of inconsistencies are present in the narrative. But just like its theme of casting spells, the hooking factor of this series is baffling.

It’s too late to be improved but while the characters of Hong-jo, Shin-yu and Jae-kyung are properly presented, Na-yeon’s character has shown no movement at all. I think Hong-jo’s workmates are more lingering even when there are moments they exaggerate.

Also, we see the gardener is also a villain in the past but it felt like his obsession to Hong-jo was vaguely conveyed.

Can Hong-jo and Shin-yu fulfill their love in this lifetime?
