Take A Sneak Peek At iQiyi’s first Southeast Asian Original, “The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang” Starring Lawrence Wong

A ghost festival this spooky September might be just what you are looking for!

iQiyi’s first Southeast Asian Original, The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang, will premiere on Aug 24th, with two new episodes available every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 8 PM SGT. Discover all kinds of ghosts waiting for you as each episode features a unique storyline.

iQiyi just released a 2-minute spooky trailer of its highly-anticipated first Southeast Asian Original and exclusive 36-episode series The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang. Co-produced with GHY Culture and Media, the series will premiere on the iQiyi International app and iQ.com on August 24, 2021.

Challenging his first lead attempt in the horror genre, iQiyi’s first international VIP ambassador Lawrence Wong plays Xia Dong Qing, a character who has “Yin Yang eyes” that allows him to see and communicate with beings from other worlds.

Journey alongside his numerous riveting adventures with fellow co-star, Qi Yuwu, who plays grim reaper Zhao Li.

Moreover, rising Taiwanese actress Kate Kinney is set for her global debut as Olivia (Xiao Ya). Ever since her close brush with death, has become a regular customer of the store and a trusted confidante to Xia Dong Qing. Kate’s breakout role as an ordinary girl who somehow gets entwined in a series of dark events is definitely one for the books!

A Fearless String of Ghost Adventures Begins

Starkly different from his past lead roles, such as in the period drama Story of Yanxi Palace, watch Lawrence Wong battle with a long-nailed ghost and face a near-death experience after being attacked and locked up by a masked mob.

You can also spot Kate Kinney appearing morbidly pretty in a bright pink wig, donning a silky outfit, and excessively long eyelash extensions while being tortured in a spinning trolley.

Meanwhile, Qi Yuwu gets struck by pink lightning and charmingly saves numerous damsels in distress.

Together, the dauntless trio forms an unlikely friendship that transcends all other-worldly realms, with an aim to help guide souls to their rightful places – be it the lost or the evil in the form of dolls, deformed corpses and even mermaids.

The trailer also revealed more familiar faces that will appear in the series, such as Singaporean actress Jeanette Aw and Malaysian actresses Koe Yeet, Debbie Goh and Emily Chan.

Will Xia Dong Qing, Zhao Li, and Olivia (Xiao Ya) successfully battle evil and bring closure to lost souls, or will they become lost souls themselves? All these and more will be revealed progressively on iQ.com and the iQiyi International app, starting August 24!

Go VIP To Get Advanced Episodes

iQiyi International VIP subscribers will get to enjoy 8 episodes of the series while non-VIPs will be able to catch 2 episodes during the premiere. Subsequently, 2 new episodes will be available every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 8 pm SGT.

iQiyi International’s standard and premium VIP subscribers with compatible devices will also be able to revel in an unparalleled audio experience, with The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang being the first Original series to be available in Dolby Atmos — an immersive sound that takes the viewer right into the heart of the action with breathtaking realism.
