Sweet Teeth Quick Plot Recap

*Spoiler Alert

Just like any woman who will soon be hitting their 30’s, Zeng Li (Betty Wu) hopes for her own romantic story. Content and happy, she works as a librarian and also writes on the side. Her life is normal, and with delightful friends and a reliable brother, she has gone a long way from her troubled past.

Her growing up years with her mom incurring two ex-husbands and a current one have created a deep-seated toll in her heart. Always relenting to her mother, she was dragged to an outpatient clinic for dental alignment procedure. Apparently, her mom thinks it could heightened her chance of getting into a relationship.

There she meets dentist Ai Jing Chu (Bi Wen Jun). Her first impression of him was not good thinking he caused her friend’s heartbreak. Later on, she learned she misjudged her dentist and their doctor-patient interaction also becomes more comfortable.

The brave gets the love she deserves

Unknown to Zeng Li and Ai Jing Chu, they actually had a previous encounter involving Yu Yi (Yalkun Merxat). He is both friends to them and also harbors adoration to Zeng Li whom he used to tutor when she was young. Yu Yi is also where Zeng Li got the character sketch of the male lead in her novel which is loosely based in her own experience.

Realizing Zeng Li was the girl he spoke before about the snow-drenched love letter he accidentally peeked on, Ai Jing Chu is torn between his growing feelings with Zeng Li and the knowledge that she is also the woman his best friend likes. He even signed up to a volunteer program to Africa which made Zeng Li unhappy.

Mutually recognizing their feelings, they seal it with a sweet kiss and affirmation of entering a serious relationship. Yu Yi accepting Zeng Li loves his best friend also gives way and leaves the country again to just settle overseas.

Her friends Wu Ying (Baby Zhang) and Ma Yi Yi (Wan Zi Lin) also discover love they are too hesitant to claim. On the other hand, Liu Yu Cheng (Zhai Xiao Wen) and Deng Hao Ran (Terry Lu) recapture their old flame.

Sweet Teeth Peak Points + Musings

Two people who are both novice in accepting and being in a relationship make Sweet Teeth such an engrossing watch. Incorporating the male lead’s character as a dentist, the special treatment for his special patient keeps the addicting mood of this drama.

Having a female lead who can’t translate the additional efforts of her dentist makes you scratch your head but still adore them for presenting the world’s cutest couple taking baby steps to the world of love. Bi Wen Jun and Betty Wu have both committed to their roles efficiently. Thus, it reflects on their onscreen synergy.

Significantly, the attention to present trite nonetheless endearing saccharine scenes draws encouraging notes. Knowing Zheng Li’s past suffering, Ai Jing Cheng takes the uncomplicated route to nurture his feelings for her. A noteworthy lesson that engaging to a relationship does not need a lot of experience, but willingness to learn along the way.

Relaxed and spirited in its storytelling, this drama has an eloquence of its own – the kind that is simple but reassuring, the kind that sweet-talk viewers to whitewash the familiar plot.

Hooking Romantic Buildup on Highlighted Romance Stories

Featuring three love journeys is already a winsome situation for any viewer who has a penchant for light and sweet stories. What I like about Sweet Teeth is how it smoothly transitioned to present each couple in a believable love progress.

Taking a leap to commit one’s heart, Zeng Li and Ai Jing Cheng convince us that such affair does not involve complicated elements. It only need mutual affirmation coming from valiant choice of not overthinking actions but asking the right question directly.

The thin line between vague and real romance often suffers because of not opting to confront it clearly. Thankfully, the lead couple in this series prefer not romance ambiguity. Therefore, it pushes a gratifying happy ending.

The male leads are sure projected to quintessential men ladies can naturally be smitten with. But more than that, they left a soft inspiring nudge on how a “man yielding to his ladylove” makes the world a peaceful and better place.

Saccharine Side Love Stories

Wu Ying and Yu Cheng gave a resounding pitch of working together in a relationship challenged with age-gap. Amusingly, Yu Cheng being the younger one in their relationship provided resilience and even wiser beyond his years than the older lady he likes.

Always choosing to meet halfway, the surprised pregnancy problem at the latter part of the story remain firm to the message of their love story. Despite different views and beliefs, if a couple choose to understand and brave everything together, everything will fall in the right places.

Meanwhile, Ma Yi Yi and Deng Hao Ran took a long route to reclaim the love that was theirs to begin with. After failed relationships, their love orbit is proven to be revolving around each other. Finally understanding that no relationship can be perfect, they submit to the reality that them being friends trace back to how strongly they love each other.
