Marking his return to MBC camp after 29 years, Han Suk Kyu is set to appear in MBC’s new weekend series.
The prolific actor will be working with talented actresses Han Ye Ri and Chae Won Bin.
Such a Close Traitor 이토록 친밀한 배신자 is a family psychological thriller drama depicting the dilemma faced by Korea’s best profiler when he discovers his daughter’s secret related to the murder crime he is investigating.
Although this series has genre characteristics, it is ultimately a three-dimensional work that contains in-depth stories related to family relationships, trust and doubt.
It is the work of writer Han A-young, who won the 2021 MBC Drama Script Contest with overwhelming support from the judges and was developed into a mini-series by consolidating MBC’s drama development know-how over the past three years. With its solid story, lively characters, and dramatic fun, it is emerging as MBC’s most anticipated work in 2024.
Meet The Lead Cast of Such A Close Traitor
Han Suk Kyu plays Jang Tae-su, the best profiler in Korea and a father who raises his only daughter alone. Jang Tae-su is a man of great standing who voluntarily took the path of a criminal behavior analyst from a time when even the word profiling was unfamiliar. He commands unrivaled respect within the police organization.
However, due to an incident, not only his professional beliefs but also his relationship with his beloved daughter are completely shaken, and he is a character who struggles to reveal the truth to protect his daughter, who is his everything.
Also making her drama comeback after three years, Han Ye Ri takes the role of Lee Yeon, a police officer in the criminal behavior analysis team, where Jang Tae-soo is the team leader. She is a person who studied abroad and majored in criminal psychology in the UK, and always prioritizes facts over emotions and events over people. She respects Jang Tae-su as a role model, but she feels suspicious that he seems to be hiding something.
Portraying the role of Tae-su’s daughter, Jang Ha-bin, a high school student is Chae Won Bin. She looks like an ordinary student, but like her father, she has an extraordinary ability to keenly observe and understand people. Above all, she is the person who is hiding a secret that will completely shake the life of her father. She will be constantly engaged in elaborate psychological warfare with her father and is expected to create a twist that exceeds expectations.
Such A Close Traitor aims to premiere in the 2nd half of 2024.
