Hu Yitian & Hu Bingqing Keep Their Steady Connection In “Unrequited Love” Episodes 11 & 12

Relentless ex-relationship seems going to run long in Unrequited Love. Hopefully, Luo Zhi and Huainan remain strong about it.

I like how the series suggested reasons on why we should not hate Zhanyan yet, by presenting her scars in the latest episodes of Unrequited Love. Most likely, the plan is to pile up more annoying moments of her delusion to help fortify the love pairing’s pictured fated destiny. Her ambiguous remark of a back story about Huainan is really making me curious to know more details about the past of the characters in the series.

unrequited love

“I hope the next person who tells you how to forget the pain would be me.”

Breaking the ice while walking with your unrequited crush is truly hard, and we have to admire Luo Zhi for surviving it. Thankfully, Huainan knows how to lead. Noticing her strange way of walking on the brick road, Luo Zhi shared how it had become a habit since she was young. She shared how her feet were sore and her mom told her to step on the crosses so as not to feel the pain.

Understanding how it had since became a habit, Huainan hopes that he will be the next person whom she can rely on. Someone who can help her forget the pain.

Unfortunately, their trip was called off because Zhanyan’s friend called remarking his ex-gf needs help, and only him seem to understand her. Instead of letting Huainan go alone, she asks to come with him. While sitting beside him, she inwardly thinks why she chose to join him to check on Zhanyan.

“What I’m worried about is that because of Zhanyan, or other reasons, you’ll let go of my hand for no reason. So this time, I decided to be brave and follow you. Then my heart probably won’t get lost.”

Huainan and Luo Zhi find Shuijing (Pu Tao) outside her art class room and gets the gist of Zhanyan’s emotional breakdown. Subduing her emotions, Huainan gets the metal scraper and rushes her to the hospital when she fainted.

“Everyone has a past. Even if the whole world accompanies you, you still can’t get over the matter if you don’t want to.”

Discovering about Zhanyan’s depression, Shuijing explained how her best friend has been making a happy face albeit her deep pain. She has been traumatized since seeing her mother committed suicide. But she is putting up a strong front to prove that she is stronger than her mom.

However, her father’s message of re-marrying has struck a chord and led to her breakdown. Urging Huainan to be with Zhanyan as she needs him the most, Luo Zhi got the cue and motions to leave.

Taking it as a sign of mocking Zhanyan’s pain, Luo Zhi responds the reality that depression exist. But only the person who suffers it can resolve the pain.

“Others can only be with you for a portion of the road. But at the next intersection, you must still rely on yourself. The only one who can overcome it in the end is yourself. It has nothing to do with others.”

Convincing herself to hold back her tears, she walks away. Right at that moment, Baili calls and somehow relieved her disappointment.

After telling Zhanyan to care for herself more, Huainan also confessed pretending to be perfect before. But Luo Zhi has made him realize to be who he wants to be.

“Stop staring at me or you might lose your title as the genius in the sophomore year.”

Back at the university, Huainan finds Luo Zhi at the library with a pile of things to study. Stealing glances at her, she warns him to stop staring less he loses his “genius” title in his sophomore year.

Refusing to stop marveling like a school boy on his crush, Luo Zhi breaks his trance to announce they should eat.

At the cafeteria, he receives a call from Zhanyan and contemplates whether to answer or not. But she has already spotted him and forces Mingrui to move to a different seat. Handing down an application form, she presents why Huainan has to join the Venture Capital Investment Competition.

Admitting he already knows about it, he asks Luo Zhi to join his team, but she replies wanting to hear his idea first. Huainan convenes his friends to the unveiling of his proposal.

He presents Child Loss Prevention App, an idea he got of course when Luo Zhi got lost finding her last time.

The news of Huainan’s project spread like a wildfire which caused issues with other teams who gripes on being challenged by someone with Huainan’s already privileged status.

Helping Huainan to release his frustration, Luo Zhi quips not going to advise him since only him can resolve the issue.

Later, they proceed with their project and settle at an office lent by Gebi. Luo Zhi also named their project “baby guard”.

Unrequited Love Episodes 11 & 12 Musings

Unrequited Love certainly brings back university life memories especially if you have fond ones. Right now, this series is really my weekly guilty pleasure. Something that I set my alarm to, so that I won’t miss it.

Having established Luo Zhi’s world at the first 10 episodes, the shift on Huainan’s perspective is expected. I’m not sure when the real and mutually acknowledged romance kicks in, but I’m willing to be patient since the series is all about it.

As a self-confessed fan of beautifully written dramas, I like the lingering drama lines so far in the series. The attention to character development and fortitude is also noticeable. If the obsessed Huainan fangirl can be pictured in coherence with the plot, I would be a happy camper.

I’m all good to spend time witnessing the friendship, romance, tribulations and bliss of Huainan, Luo Zhi and the gang. If it will linger on their university life, the better. Of course, I also want the romance to progress fast.

How the love pairing confronts challenges that hinder their romance fulfillment is an apparent conflict meant to be resolved in the forthcoming episodes. Supporting the romance trajectory, the scenes between Luo Zhi and Huainan are saccharine treats. All those little things like – stealing glances, explaining not to misconstrue something, mount the excitement to when they finally will seal the sparks that we can also feel while watching.
