Excited and happy supporters of Hwang In Youp gathered at the New Frontier Theatre on June 19 to spend meaningful time with the actor.
Hosted by BYS Cosmetics Philippines and promoted by Wilbros Live, the actor made sure that his fans went home with big smiles on their faces.
Gamely and genuinely responding to the interview, the event spilled interesting trivia and encouraging insights from Hwang In Youp.
Philippines is a Special Place In Hwang In Youp’s Heart
At the press conference, Hwang In Youp affirmed that he stayed in Davao for four years. Apparently, his cousin invited him to stay in the city. He agreed to stay for a year and inevitably stayed four more years since he liked it.
Setting the mood for the fan meeting, he expressed gratefulness to be able to meet Filipinos. When asked about his favorite food, he replied friend chicken, halo-halo and kwek-kwek are his top favorites.
As he is used to the country, he shared not having any adjustment at all since he loved the weather. He also mentions feeling bad that he can only stay for a short time.
“I love the Philippines since I’ve been here in one of the most important times of my life. To be back here, I’m so happy and touched.”
Cherishing his memories of staying in the country, Hwang endearingly answered what he will do if given a chance to travel back to when he was 18.
“If I will be 18 again, I will live in Davao again and be a good student and spend happy memories with my friends there.”

At Hwang In Youp BYS Fun Meet In Manila, the actor generously revealed engaging details about himself.
As an actor with modeling roots, he relayed how he paid attention to the silhouette of clothing when he wears it.
Next, he also divulged that he is ambidextrous. He was born left-handed so his mother tried to correct it, but he ended up having able to use both his hands.
Among his drama roles so far, he confessed that he can resonate with Han Seo-jun in True Beauty. Additionally, he took a motorcycle driving license for that role. He was also surprised how there are a lot of motorcycle drivers in the Philippines since in Korea, it is hard to get a license for it.
The color black is his favorite and he also shared that his birthday this year was celebrated while filming Why Her.
Conveying his favorite drama, the actor mentioned My Mister to be special for him. “I watched it when I was emotionally down, and it warmed my heart,” he said.

A Look Back On Hwang In Youp Dramas
Revisiting Hwang’s drama history, the actor then chronicled engrossing filming details.
In 18 Again, there was a scene when he was bullying Ryeoun’s character, he acknowledged that it was a rebellious character of his. But he told the crowd that he is good friends with Ryeoun, even now.
Another scene in the drama showed him sweetly declaring a public love confession. However, in reality, Hwang In Youp remarked he cannot do a public confession since he is by nature shy.
Remembering his experience in True Beauty, he imparted how Moon Ga Young helped her well in the series. He also described her as a bright and really beautiful person inside out.
Moreover, his solo song performance that was highlighted at the fan meeting also made him feel nostalgic as he was momentarily taken back to the time it was filmed.
“That song was selected by the director. My personal touch was to highlight my eyes. I thought of my friend in heaven. As I was watching the audience, I remembered the scene.”

Revealing how his acting dream actually started when he was seeing dramas like Boys Over Flowers while he was staying in the Philippines, Hwang shared how he never thought he would venture into acting eventually.
Grateful for all his roles so far, he also focused on giving back the support of his fans by working hard on projects that his fans would love.
“I’m not focused on a particular role but what can help me grow as an actor. My dream role is what my fans would love.”
Emphasizing his role as BYS brand ambassador, Hwang In Youp reiterates his earlier message at the press conference about self-love. He also took the time to express how he loves all his fans.
“I believe that you need to love yourself so you can love other people. I know all of you here love yourself so I’m going to love you as well.”
