Grateful for the love he received after Squid Game in 2021, actor Park Hae Soo shares his future plans.
Taking on the role of Han Ji Hoon in the movie Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, Park Hae Soo portrays the role of a prosecutor who probes corruption in large corporations and gets dispatched to the National Intelligence Service to investigate a black ops team stationed in Shenyang.
Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, also known as Yacha, is a spy action film that follows the secret operations of the black ops team of the NIS, and depicts the thrilling battle of spies and agents from various intelligence agencies in Shenyang, China.
Through an interview, Park Hae Soo ponders on his success after Squid Game, and also shares his future plans for his acting career.
Global Success of Korean Content
With the attention garnered by Squid Game last year, Park Hae Soo looks forward to the future success of more Korean content in the world market. The actor recognizes the rising demand for such content at present, saying:
“Squid Game and Korean contents are gaining a lot of strength. In the past, it used to feel like Asians were going in when they needed to, but now they’re leads.”
Adding to what he has said, the actor expresses his gratitude for the growing love for Korean content.
“I am grateful because I feel that there is a need for Korean content, and that the audience and viewers want it.”
Thankful for the Past Year
Seeing 2021 as a great year, actor Park Hae Soo shares how that year has been filled with milestones he is thankful for as Squid Game was released, his child was born, and also reveals it was his first time to come to America.
“2021 has been a very blessed year for me. A child is born, and the child is growing up healthy. It was a year when a work called ‘Squid Game’ received a lot of attention, and there were a lot of exciting things that I couldn’t handle. It was the first time I went to America.”
Recalling that year, the actor expresses his joy in experiencing a lot of things, and also thinks of how often he has traveled to the United States.
“It was a happy year. I got a lot of experience. I’ve been to the US so many times that I wondered if it would be a job to go to America.”
Setting aside his achievements as an actor, Park Hae Soo remains humble with his statement about being a global star.
“But I don’t think of myself as a global star. At this point in time when a lot of global stars are born, I think there are things I need to do.”
Plans for Future Projects
For the future projects he will choose, Park Hae Soo looks forward to working more with stories that capture the daily lives of humans.
“I want to try a work with a new worldview. Or maybe I want to tell a very ordinary story. I also want to try to tell stories of everyday life that have blunt stories.”
On the possibility of being offered to work on overseas projects, the actor states his anticipation for the continuous production of more Korean content for the global audience.
“I don’t have any plans for overseas projects yet. If I have an opportunity, I will prepare it gratefully, but I think it will be possible for Korean works and dramas to be produced more globally.”
