Jung Jin Young

Marking Police University as his comeback series, Jung Jin Young reveals he is grateful to work with inspiring co-actors and production team.

On October 5th, KBS’s Police University ended while leaving warm valuable lessons about life and justice. With Jung Jin Young, Cha Tae Hyun, and Krystal Jung‘s synergy, the series was able to secure 5% to 6% audience percent ratings.

Jung Jin Young transformed into a talented hacker, Kang Sun Ho, who joined Detective Yoo Dong Man’s (Cha Tae Hyun) investigation. Together with him and other Sun Ho’s friends, they were able to solve the mysteries and help each other to grow.

After completing his military service, Jung Jin Young “felt embarrassed” to take a student role. He shared, “I worked really hard for two weeks because I had to play the role of a high school student at this age.”

“I didn’t usually go to dermatology. It’s just annoying. I was told to put on sunscreen by my dermatologist, but after two years of rest, my skin felt rough, so I managed it hard. I feel embarrassed because my role as a high school student was a burden. And I think it all comes from dermatology,” he added.

As Jung Jin Young openly shared this preparation, Police University reminded him to “also care about skincare in my 30’s.”

On The Values He Learned From His Role

Furthermore, the actor expresses that he felt “disappointed that his work has ended.” Jung Jin Young also stated that he also felt the “pressure of coming back.”

Nevertheless, he continued, “I was nervous but I was happy because of the good reaction.” He then shared his realizations about the burden he carries today and from his career.

“When you were in your 20’s, your values were like, ‘What’s your life like?’ It was, but it’s different now in our 30’s. We are more sympathetic.”

Jin Young continues, “It does not mean that we should live roughly, but it means that we should think positively without getting stressed by each one. Such values helped.”

“At the beginning of the blank period, I felt uneasy. It’s a situation where nothing can be done, and the work continues to be produced through the media,” opening about the pressure he felt as an actor.

“The anxiety of ‘I have to work fast…’ As time went by, I thought, ‘What would you do because you were worried?’ I tried to enjoy the time by studying English and exercising. I thought, ‘If you work hard again, it will work out well,'” he concluded.

On The Lessons Jung Jin Young Learned From Co-Workers

After pausing from the acting industry, Jin Young’s acting teacher revealed that the actor’s emotions changed. With that, he felt that it could ruin Kang Sun Ho’s character.

“It was a fresh campus life in the beginning, and the second half was a crime investigation drama. It was difficult to hold and act in the middle tone, but I had to show my growth, and I was very careful,” sharing his preparation for Kang Sun Ho.

In Jung Jin Young and Cha Tae Hyun’s meeting, Jin Young expresses that he felt relieved to hear that I am in good hands and care of others.”

“He answered my questions sincerely while we were acting together. Even when I was thinking about the next work. He also advised me to do it right when I feel like it. I received a lot of help in many ways.”

The actor revealed, “The reason why Yoo Dong Man and Kang Sun Ho bromance stand out in the play is that Cha Tae Hyun was a good person. In the second half, Yoo Dong Man was seen leaving the National Police University and he cried.”

“There are so many good people around me, but I’m usually close to my older brothers, Park Sung Woong, Ju Ji Hoon. They tell me what to be careful about, how to live, etc.”

On His Process As An Actor

Jin Young is grateful to hear directors with how quickly he “absorbs instructions.” With his experience as an idol and composing music, Jin Young shared how he applied it with acting.

He revealed, “There will be some things you want from the other person when you work, and it seems that you have learned the ability to accept well through that process.”

“My strength as an actor is that I understand quickly, and my ultimate goal is to have an acting ability to play any role. I wonder how I look when I meet a completely different character,” he added.

My acquaintances say that I would be a good fit for the role of a psychopath if I wear glasses.”

What about the romantic comedy genre? I have a lot to do. Most of all, I hope to be able to act with actor Lee Byung Hun in one piece someday.”

Finally, Jung Jin Young also proves his love for music as much as acting. “I like to make strategies. I tend to strategically choose my move and next work.”

On giving hints for future activities. “Knowing myself first and strategically drawing the future. If I don’t have a chance to win, I’ll give it up firmly.”

“I was also an actor in the Police University but participated in the OST as a producer. I love music so much that I’m still working on it. I’ve made quite a few songs, and I’m thinking about how to repay my fans.”
