Disney+’s original series Uncle Samsik has released new teasers of Song Kang Ho, who plays Uncle Samsik.
Headlined by Song Kang Ho, and Byun Yo Han (Mr. Sunshine), Uncle Samsik is a societal drama set in 1960s Korea that follows an idealistic politician, and a mysterious political fixer called Uncle Samsik who operates in the shadows. Together the pair form an uneasy partnership to transform a struggling post-war Korea into a prosperous country where everyone can afford three meals a day.
Song Kang Ho is a national actor who has communicated and resonated with global audiences across languages and countries in numerous works, including becoming the first Korean to win the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Uncle Samsik, which attracted attention as the first series in his acting career, has high expectations not only in Korea but also overseas.
The respected actor plans to show the charm of a character that has never been seen before through Park Doo-chil, also known as Uncle Samsik. Park Doo-chil, is a strategist who can accurately perceive people’s desires and quickly grasp the situation to make detailed plans.
Since childhood, he has lived by carving out his way, using any means necessary to make a living. When he meets Kim San (Byun Yo Han), an elite young man with the same dream as him, he begins to make grand plans to make his dream come true.
The released character still shows Uncle Samsik’s diverse side, which is difficult to define, such as a warm smile giving off a friendly charm, secretly planning a strategy and a wait-and-see attitude without knowing his true intentions.
Conveying his thoughts about his first series, Song Kang Ho reckoned his encounter with Uncle Samsik.
“Uncle Samsik is a character that is difficult to define in one word. It is a character that I have never been able to show while working on a movie so far. While working on my first series, I learned diligently with the attitude of a rookie. I worked fiercely and passionately.”
Director Shin Yeon-sik praised the actor, “Song Kang Ho has shown a variety of characters in a variety of genres. In Uncle Samsik, he captured deeper emotions and colorful aspects of life.”
Disney+’s original series Uncle Samsik will release 5 episodes on the 15th, and from then on, you will be able to see 2 episodes each week and 3 episodes in the last week, for a total of 16 episodes.
