K-Drama First Look: “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” Hums A Story Of Healing & Romance

With such a perky female lead who remains positive after hitting rock-bottom, Do Do Sol Sol Sol La La Sol foresees a healing story ahead.

Owning her world’s most optimistic character to bits, Go Ara delighted the audience introducing her newest character in Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol. What’s even more endearing is how the enigmatic hero, portrayed by Lee Jae Wook complements the picture despite his uptight personality.

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol Opening Week Story

From riches to rag story of Gu Ra Ra

Living a sheltered and affluent life, optimist Gu Ra Ra (Go Ara) has worked hard to become a pianist that her father will be proud of. At her first recital when she confronted a stage fright, her father stood proud of her that she longed for the moment to return his unconditional love. Finally, she was able to return it at her graduation recital.

Finishing an intensive training to become a pianist, Ra Ra decides to live a new life of her own. Following her father’s wish, she also got betrothed to a doctor. However, on her wedding day, Ra Ra’s world crumbled. Her father died after receiving a bad news for his business which has been in the brink of failure.

Overnight, Ra Ra’s life changed. With a little money given by her father’s secretary, she looked for an apartment which she eventually lost because the realtor was a scammer. Left with no option and with constant coaxing from a mysterious SNS follower, she goes to Eunpo village with her pet dog, Mimi.

Jack-of-all-trades Sunwoo Jun

Working hard to support himself, Sunwoo Jun, first met Gu Ra Ra when a small accident led him into bringing a bouquet of flowers for a nearby wedding event. Amazed at the sight of the beautiful bride, Ra Ra accidentally caused Jun a nosebleed which also ruined her wedding dress. But, he is quick to remedy the situation and fixed her dress as if nothing happened.

Alone in a rented room, he senses danger and escapes the place he has been temporarily staying. He has left home and has been evading to be caught by the people his mother sent for him. Chancing upon an advertisement about a quaint village, Jun decides to begin a new life away from the city.

On his way for an errand though, Ra Ra who was checking on Mimi accidentally knocked him and also pushed her car after the collision. Recognizing the bride he fatedly met before leaving Seoul, he subconsciously finds himself helping her for no reason.

Debtor-Creditor Relationship

Without money to pay, Ra Ra proposes to Jun that they will be entering a debtor-creditor relationship. Finding himself obliged to take care of Ra Ra’s growing expenses, Jun perseveres in getting side jobs to earn money.

In one of his side jobs though, he faces an organized crime which reeled in people for a job, but in reality just pulling a scam. He attempts to run away with the promised 500,000 KRW, but upon motioning to leave the seminar hall, he was prohibited to leave and was eventually beaten up.

Ra Ra, who was wondering why Jun hasn’t showed up in two days face another adorable problem – her head is itchy and she can’t scratch it. Lucky for her, Dr. Cha Eun-seok (Kim Joo Hun) lends a hand. Just then, her creditor arrives and takes her to a quick bike and night view moment.

She confesses about her current situation and asks him to help her out, vowing to pay everything that she will owe. Interestingly drawn to Ra Ra, Jun agrees and even brings her to the neighborhood salon to wash her hair where Ra Ra keeps on spouting praises on him.

Upon discharge, Ra Ra keeps on using her credit tab to the kind-hearted stranger-turned friend who helped her unconditionally.

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol Opening Week Musings

Nothing grand but amusing just the same, Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol stroke a healing chord that seems to be the projected layer of the series. In the first episode, Eunpo is pictured as a village that would provide a place of respite for the characters.

They appear to be escaping their problems or could be resolving their problems through a reprieve in that small town. A walking contradiction, Gu Ra Ra is a reminder of how no matter big our problem is, it won’t hurt us to smile. Pictured as not having any idea of the real world, she has to confront her new life armed only her unyielding optimism.

I have relatively sweet drama experiences with Go Ara and Lee Jae Wook. Hence, I am confident that their portrayals coupled with writer Oh Ji Young’s script would not lead to a disappointing series. Writer Oh worked on series My Secret Terrius and Shopaholic Louis. Both dramas have delighted me immensely when I watched it before.

What to look forward to?

Evidently, we are looking forward to Ra Ra’s growth in the series. Her sketch really has had not just the characters in the series, but viewers alike, worry on how she will survive in the real world. *chuckles That, in turn, makes Lee Jae Wook closer to the women’s hearts because his protectiveness and willingness to save damsel-rara-in-distress is remarkable.

Of course we know that the life he has been running away will confront him eventually, and I’ll bet that it would be Ra Ra-related.

Meanwhile, we don’t know the deal yet with Dr. Cha, and we most likely will be meeting new characters from the vibrant village of Eunpo in the next chapters.
