Opening Week Ratings:
Jinxed At First Opening Week Highlight
Confined from the real world, Lee Seul-bi grew up hidden with only books and her colorful imagination to keep her entertained. Together with her mother, Seul-bi and Mi-soo are only seen as good luck charms that can be used anytime.
They are chained by the strict and powerful Chairman of Jinhua Biotech Group, Seon Sam-joong. Mi-soo and Sam-joong met during the war. Thereafter, the chairman has successfully established his own company.
Since then, he’s been using Mi-soo and Seul-bi to chase away bad fortunes in his life. However, Seul-bi met Gong Soo-kwang, who gave her a reason to follow her dreams and explore the world.
The Witch of Good Fortune
Inheriting the power of witches, Lee Seul-bi cuts their generation of suffering and manipulation of men. As she accidentally ‘touched’ Soo-kwang hands behind the door that confines her, she sees through him and called him her prince.
She was able to follow him and see the world for the first time while bringing Soo-kwang good luck for a short time. Seul-bi was also able to experience the things she only sees in books.
However, as Soo-kwang brings her back into her home, Sam-joong furiously accuses him of kidnapping Seul-bi. With his greed, Sam-joong plots to kill Soo-kwang, thinking he will take his charm from him.
Before his plan executes, Soo-kwang’s mother dies from saving him in a car accident. While he scatters his mother’s ashes to the sea, a man struck him from the back and throws his body.
Soo-kwang ables to survive and borrows the name of Goo Myeong-soo to hide his identity. On the other hand, Seul-bi’s bright energy drifts since Soo-kwang is taken away from her.
The Jinx’s Luck
Continuing his mother’s fish business, Soo-kwang works at Seodong Market, where everyone despises him for bringing bad luck. Also, he keeps his new identity as a way of forgetting his mother’s death and starting a new beginning.
Despite being known as a jinx, Soo-kwang tries to see his problems positively and lives with them. His fate then changes as Seul-bi escapes from Sam-joong and finds her way again to be with him.
Nonetheless, Soo-kwang pushes her away for causing the misfortunes he experiences ever since he met her. Moreover, his views on Seul-bi shift as her predictions turn out to be correct, while helping with his business.
She slowly brings back color and light to Soo-kwang’s life and wholeheartedly wants to help change his fate. Although Seul-bi drives misfortunes away from others, she draws danger and problems for herself because of her innocence.
Jinxed At First Opening Week Musings
As Director Yoon Sang Ho promises to viewers, Jinxed At First’s fun and warm narrative is contagious. With many heavy dramas premiering this month, the series brings an energizing magical and romantic drama we can all enjoy.
It is also heart-warming to see most of the cast of the River Where The Moon Rises back together for the drama. Even though most of the actors only made cameo appearances, Hwang Young Hee and Jung In Kyum’s characters made their series nostalgic to watch.
Furthermore, Seohyun exceeds our expectations for her transformation into a goddess of luck. Her vibrant appearance and spirit blend well with Na In Woo’s serious yet adorable character.
Also, the Seodong Market sellers double the fun and add different colors with their roles. They also represent the lives and struggles of market vendors.
Featuring various elements in one drama, Jinxed At First have more surprises and fun up in its sleeves.
