High Class

Commencing to a baffling plot, the characters of High Class can surely charm viewers to their furtive intentions connecting them as a whole.

Featuring a scenic setting, the stories to be unraveled are so far vivid and riveting. Cho Yeo Jeong as the focal character in the story undoubtedly makes a commanding presence.

High Class Opening Week Story

Life changes dramatically for Song Yeo-wool (Cho Yeo Jeong). The year before, she and her husband sail to the sea and spend a steamy night. But the next day, her husband was proclaimed dead leaving her a big amount of debt to pay.

Adding to that, she was called to her son Yi-chan’s school because of an altercation that caused his classmate an injured arm. Choosing to believe in her son, she refuses to apologize and decides to transfer to a new school.

Armed with an invitation from a prestigious school, Yeo-wool and Yi-chan move to Jeju island. Their new home adds another baffling thought as Yeo-wool has no knowledge of the house his husband bought under Yi-chan’s name.

Obviously sensing the cold reception from fellow parents, Yeo-wool remains unfazed. Thankfully, her buddy parent is welcoming with a daughter who is also nice to Yi-chan.

But something does not add up to her new beginning. From the creepy lipstick-written welcome graffiti to a bouquet of flowers with I’m-watching-over-you message; Yeo-wool seems to fall into a premeditated plot. The new school and new people she met surely can’t be fully trusted.

High Class Opening Week Musings

I honestly gave the first episode of High Class five minutes to convince me if it’s worth covering. I ended up finishing the first two episodes in one sitting.

Cho Yeo Jeong impressively convinces with her multi-faceted character. A heroine that can go all-out to be happy and kind and a loving mother who believes her son no matter what. Already aware that she is the subject of blackballing, she knows which card to play.

Her showdowns with the bully moms pique interest given her character sketch to be smart. Hence, we can look forward to how she maneuvers her moves to the evil schemes she inevitably will confront.

Packed with puzzling clues, the future chapters of the series are set to be busy. First, the truth about the death of Yeo-wool’s husband holds significant value to the core of the plot. An ambiguous orchestration targeting Yeo-wool is obviously in place.

Moreover, the new people in the heroine’s life have quite compelling stories and hidden motivations. Honestly, it feels like she is bound to be in a gripping who-should-I-trust game.

Personally, I have been avoiding emotionally draining stories to help my happiness at a level that would help me fight stress, induced by the pandemic.

But Yeo-wool truly gravitates with her unique dark horse story. It also appears no exaggerated dramatics on the horizon. Thus, it would not make our inner K-Drama fan peace at risk.

Meet the students and mothers of an elite school in High Class. International fans can watch it on iQiyi, Viu and K-PLUS platforms.
