Presenting an expected connection by living as neighbors, the lead pairing of tvN’s latest Monday-Tuesday drama gave enough reason for their watch-our-love-story-unfolds pitch.

My Lovely Liar Opening Week Story
Gifted with the ability to see through the lies of people, Mok Sol-hee (Kim So Hyun) uses it efficiently to earn a living.
Starting out her career as a liar hunter, she inevitably prospered. There’s no place far, nor job risky as long as the price is right. Thus, her reputation has earned her a stable and rich clientele who wanted not to be swindled.
Five years ago, she helps Kim Do-ha (Hwang Min Hyun) who was being chased by a crazed man. She recognizes Do-ha telling the truth and saves him from the situation.
Five years later, Sol-hee has earned quite well in her career. Do-ha also established himself as a famous composer working with top idol Sha-on.
When Sha-on was captured coming out of Do-ha’s posh place, he ends up being hounded by the press. Living a hermit life, he follows Ji-on, the agency CEO and moves to a villa he owns.
“If I say so, then it is.”
There he encounters Sol-hee again who does not recognize him. She again rescues him when he was branded as a pervert by asserting he is not lying and that he’s innocent.
Interestingly, the new neighbors are fans of rival football teams. They accidentally discover it when their chicken meal orders were switched on the day their teams meet for a match.
In a twist of fate, Sol-hee was asked by Moo-jin, a composer who was adamant to meet Do-ha. He blackmailed Ji-on by capturing a voice recording that Sha-on indeed went to Do-ha’s place. Despite denying the two are not in a relationship, his appeal is futile and he is forced to plead Do-ha to meet Moo-jin.
Responding truthfully to Moo-jin’s questions frustrated the stubborn composer. Sol-hee meddles when Moo-jin became too much and protects Do-ha.
But when she gets home, she finds the drunk Do-ha who was forced to drink alcohol that he can’t handle. Curious about why he keeps wearing a mask, she removes it stealthily.
Surprised to see a familiar face, she gets even more surprised when Do-ha opens his eyes and catches her in the act.
My Lovely Liar Opening Week Musings
Hinted in the debut week of My Lovely Liar is a solitary musician trying to hide his past involving a woman presumed to have been missing. Her brother is the same man who hounded Do-ha on a bus where Sol-hee first stood up for him.
We can already see that Sol-hee’s gift would help Do-ha slowly liberate himself since she can back him up with the truth that she can only detect.
More of Do-ha’s painful past needs to be unpacked to stabilize the initial theories we got so far in the series.
They both have issues with their mothers as well which hopefully improves over time in the story.
Also introduced in the launch week are the secondary leads and supporting characters which made striking recall in their roles albeit the narrative focused majority on Do-ha and Sol-hee.
It’s hard for Sol-hee and Do-ha not to connect more given they are neighbors, and that’s one of what to anticipate in the series.
