One Dollar Lawyer Opening Week Story

Despite being behind his law office’s rent, Cheon Ji-hun has devoted his life to accept 1,000 KRW for the legal service he offers to people.

Specifically, he brings to light the spirit of justice for underprivileged and weak people. He also gives post-case encouragement to his clients who did wrong, but wants to turn over a new leaf.

Kickstarting his remarkable skills as a lawyer, Ji-hun takes the case of a father who is on a trial for attempted theft. Apparently, he helps a drunk man who almost fell. When his hand lands on his wallet, the drunk man screams about being pickpocketed.

Unfortunately, the defendant has been convicted for thievery four times. That makes his case impossible to be overturned. Keen to free the defendant who has a sick daughter, Ji-hun faces the prosecution armed with confidence and eloquence at the trial.

He faces Prosecutor Baek Ma-ri (Kim Ji Eun), who is the granddaughter of the CEO of a big law firm. Through a jury trial, Ma-ri emphasized the defendant’s abysmal track record as a thief, and not being able to provide for his sick daughter.

Utilizing evidence and logic; Ji-hun convinces the jury about the basic principle of law to side with the defendant when there’s doubt in the argument provided.

Ultimately, Ji-hun wins the case and helps another father keen to change for the better for his family.

Meanwhile, Ma-ri finishes her probation training as a prosecutor and looks forward to joining her grandfather’s law firm.

However, she gets surprised when her grandfather asked her to work for two months at Ji-hun’s law office. Totally against her will, she curbs his real emotion and starts working at the unique law office that serves the poor and the powerless.
