Radiating Energy of Jun’s Family
Far from his past life as a secret agent, Jun now has a family that counts on him as a father who is a struggling webtoon artist. In his drawing career, he has received disheartening comments, and his daughter Ga-yeong was also honest with her review of her father’s work.
Witnessing how her father gets nagged by her mother, Ga-yeong and Jun form an adorable father-daughter alliance.
Like her father, Ga-yeong pursues her own dreams of becoming a rapper. She and her mother radiate the fierce energy Jun also has, which creates a comedic atmosphere during their abductions.
What’s also lovable about their family is their acceptance of Jun’s past and support of his passions while declining the offer of coming back as a secret agent.
Action Combats Infused with Comedy
When Mi-na was abducted by Jason, Jun reawakened his action skills, and does his best to rescue his family. In that pursuit, Jun gets reunited with Chief Cheon and Cheol from the shield team.
Although they are thought to stand on opposing sides, their bond from the past is stronger, which breaks the tension in various fighting scenes.
In addition to that, the villains in the movie are not that seriously detestable. If the type of humor clicks with you as a viewer, the action scenes will surely bring laughter all the way.
Choosing Dreams over Riches
Even before he began his life as a secret agent, Jun has already announced his plans of becoming a webtoon artist. However, because of his excellent combat skills, he works as the ace of the team for a long time.
In his new life, he pursues his passion for creating webtoons. The long hobby of his that used to bring him happiness now brings the reality of being insufficient to provide.
Throughout the movie, Jun’s decision to decline a career where he is an ace emphasizes the cost of chasing one’s dreams. Possibly, one is not a genius in it, nonetheless, it is still far more rewarding than money, especially when surrounded by supportive people.
Hitman movie Musings
Watching Kwon Sang Woo portray a comical character in an action-comedy film feels refreshing as some may feel more familiar with his serious roles in melodramas such as Stairway to Heaven and Temptation.
Along with other cast members also, their portrayals and energy together have effectively brought a humorous performance. In the aspect of comedy, the movie has offered various types of humor, which may click with a wide range of audiences.
Revolving in the webtoon Jun created, the plot follows a lighthearted approach to the reality of chasing one’s dreams while struggling to finance your family’s needs.
Moreover, setting the jokes aside, the life of Jun in the shield team subtly pokes at the serious issues of agencies who engage in unethical practices masked as actions for the state’s safety.
Combining all those elements, Hitman delivers a good laugh to its viewers as it is a movie that is light to watch and easy on the eyes. Even though it is an action-comedy, it also sentimentally empathizes with the rewarding feeling of pursuing a dream that money can’t provide.
Hitman is now available on Netflix.
