Targeting a new genre horizon, L.U.C.A: The Beginning is keen on achieving perfection with its talented cast roster!
Slated on Monday-Tuesday spot of tvN, the series begins its first broadcast on the first of February. Marking Kim Rae Won’s small screen comeback after two years, he is paired up with Lee Da Hee.
Billed as spectacular chase action film, the series combines the concept of genetics and evolution to its compelling narrative.
Main Characters
Portraying the role of Ji-o is Kim Rae Won. He knows secrets not of this world and is constantly being pursued for his special abilities. Helping him to confront his fate is homicide detective Gu-reum to be played by Lee Da Hee. She is also the only person who remembers him. Persistently chasing the case of his missing parents her life is shaken by meeting Ji-o who has special power.
Kim Sung Oh who has an unrivaled charisma, takes the villain role of Lee Son who chases after Ji-o with a beast-like instinct. A Special Forces agent, he also has special abilities like Ji-o.
Taking the role of Team Leader Choi Jin-hwan is Kim Sang Ho. He worries about Gu-reum a lot for her being reckless.
Luca: The Beginning features characters who work at Human Tech, a genetics research center. Among those is Kim Chul-soo, played by Park Hyuk Kwon. He has been carrying out the biotechnology project of Dr. Jung-Kwon Ryu (Ahn Nae Sang). The project aims to establish the best gene editing theory in Korea to pave away i creating the most perfect human beings.
Jin Kyung suits up to Hwang Jung-ah. She established Human Tech, and recruited the best scientists for a secret project. The three go for a mad obsession pursuing Ji-o.
Rounding up the cast are actors Jung Da Eun, Kim Min Gwi and Lee Joong Ok.
Creative Team
Director Kim Hong Sun, who opened a new genre of Korean exorcism drama takes the production rein of the series. His notable works include The Guest, Voice, Black, and Pied Piper among others.
Known to be a versatile storyteller, writer Chun Sung Il pens the script. Crossing genres with fluidity, his projects include film Pirates and dramas The Slave Hunter, 7th Grade Civil Servant and The Package.
Joining the formidable writer-PD tandem is cinematographer Choi Young Hwan whose works include films Veteran, The Berlin File and The Thieves.
Martial arts director Jang Jae-wook of the movie The Great Battle adds strength and expects a new world of action with a different dimension.
L.U.C.A.: The Beginning will be broadcast for the first time on February 1, 2021 at 9 PM KST.
