Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2 Episodes 1 and 2 Highlights
Helping the King to give justice to the late King’s death, the Gyesoo Family was ordered by the King to aid him at the Palace. On the other hand, Lady Eun-woo was separated from them as she needs to accompany his father to Heuksan Island.
Nevertheless, she broadens her knowledge about medicinal plants and continues communicating with the Gyesoo Family with a letter. Lady Eun-woo’s absence made Poong’s feelings toward her grow stronger every day.
Moreover, the Gyesoo Clinic’s Hanyang branch attracts many patients but sees as a rival in the Medical Office’s eyes.
“I did it to preserve my own life. The letter. I received a letter from Cho Tae-hak’s ghost. It said if I wished to live, I must drink from the Queen’s well, make liquor with that water, and bring it outside the Palace.”
In their service to the King, Physicians Yoo and Gye were unexpectedly commanded to work alongside the Medical Office. As the King’s health worsen, many Court Lady also started to get unwell.
A rumor of the curse of the vengeful spirit of Cho Tae-hak starts to circulate inside the palace and many are said to have seen his ghost. Like the King, people from the palace have a similar ailment — glaucoma.
The Medical Office sees this as food poisoning but Physicians Yoo and Gye are not convinced since the symptoms are different. With that, they continue to investigate the root of the illness despite the Medical Office opposing them.
Fortunately, Lady Eun-woo finally arrived at Hanyang for visitation and helped them investigate the case. As she roams around the palace’s ground, she notices a scent of lilies coming from the well where a Court Lady reported seeing Tae-hak’s ghost.
She then immediately knew that the scent was from a poisonous plant called fairy daisy, which they found at the well.
“The craven actions of those at the Medical Office who only worried about their mistakes coming to light worsened the condition of your patients. Is the purpose of the Medical Office to heal people or to survive political wars?”
Now that Physician Yoo identified the cause of the hallucinations and dizziness that the King and Court Ladies are feeling, the Gyesoo Clinic immediately made a remedy. Also, since Physicians Yoo and Gye proved that the Medical Office were wrong about their findings, they could not admit to their mistake.
In addition, the King’s eunuch tried to kill him, but luckily, Lady Eun-woo quickly figured out who intentionally put the fairy daisy in the King’s chamber. Due to this, the King bountifully awarded the Gyesoo clinic with his own money which made the Medical Office bitter.
They presented the King with a report that shows the wrongdoings of Physicians Yoo and the Gyesoo Clinic. Furthermore, they threatened the King that they would all resign if he picks the Gyesoo clinic over them.
To prevent more conflict and protect the Gyesoo clinic, the King decided to listen to the Medical Office and have the Gyesoo clinic return to Sorak Village. Nevertheless, he also promised Physician Yoo that he will continue to support the Gyesoo clinic.
“You will not leave once you hear my proposal. I will marry you.”
Physician Yoo Se sees his first love, Princess Lee Seo-yi. She is determined to be his. Since her brother, the King, has been friends with him since she was young, his intelligence captured her heart.
Known for her blunt and strong personality, Princess Seo-yi openly expresses her feelings toward Physician Yoo. After noticing that Physician Yoo and Lady Eun-woo were always together, she sees Lady Eun-woo as her rival.
Nevertheless, she succeeded to make Lady Eun-woo jealous but Physician Yoo reassures her that he has no relationship with the Princess. On top of that, Princess Seo-yi confidently told Physician Yoo that she will marry him whereas Physician Yoo politely declines.
Later on, the Princess heard that Physician Yoo will return to Sorak Village and ask the King for a small favor.
Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2 Episodes 1&2 Musings
Opening their doors in Hanyang also opened new opportunities for the Gyesoo Family. With the support of the King, they have fewer worries about their finances and other problems they encountered in Sorak Village.
Granny was livelier than ever, Nam-hae can now prepare more delicious meals, and Jang-gun became more charming day by day. Furthermore, Ip-bun discovers her passion for designing hanboks and aspires to establish her own business to support her father.
However, Physician Gye contests her new dream and insists that she should continue to learn acupuncture. Furthermore, Ip-bun was scammed by the women who promised to work with her.
This problem then uncovers Man-bok’s secret identity as Ip-bun mentioned ‘Sogyeok-dong Burning Firewood.’ He went to the territory of the said gang, which turns out to be his people where he is called ‘Castor Bean’ and is feared by them.
Man-bok orders the three women who stole Ip-bun’s money. This surprise revelation adds interest to his character and the history of ‘Castor Bean.’
On the other hand, Physician Yoo and Lady Eun-woo’s chemistry exceeds my expectations. In the sequel, their chemistry surely pivoted, and their deep connection is more evident.
The introduction of the new characters definitely changed the direction of the flow of the series. Surely, the Gyesoo family will face stronger and larger enemies.
With the appearance of new antagonists, love triangles, and a blooming romance, viewers are in for a more thrilling journey with the Gyesoo family.
