Today marks Jang Na Ra’s 20th Debut Anniversary. She and her fans are both happy about this milestone.
In an interview, she shared some of her insights in her newest drama Sell Your Haunted House.
Supernatural drama Sell Your Haunted House follows Hong Jia, the owner of real estate company who has a special ability. Not only does she have beauty and brains but she can see spirits and exorcise them as well.
Hence, her real estate agency focuses on acquiring ghost haunted properties to flip profit from them. She meets Oh In-Bum. A quick-witted con-artist who doesn’t believe in the existence of ghosts, but uses them to scam others’ wealth.
Reasons Why She Chose The Drama
She said when she read the script for the first time the exorcist role piqued her interest. Additionally, it was a challenge to finally do a Supernatural genre.
“Many people say that it’s a radical image transformation. but it’s a role I want to play rather than a challenge.”
She also added, “There are some things I’m lacking but I think I worked hard for it and put my best effort. Sharing her criteria for choosing work, she said it should include the story’s message and what the character wants to achieve.
She is mindful of how the story of the drama extends to the viewers and how the characters execute the emotion of the story.
On Playing Ji-a In Sell Your Haunted House
According to the actress, there are many family stories in every episode and it seemed the universal emotion is its very distinct charm.
She adds that the housing problems is something that many people could relate to nowadays and that is one of their main focus in the story.
Her character is something that she has never played before. Everything about Hong Jia is a challenge but she was able to pull off the black get-up and smokey makeup. She said, “I think the appearance transformation is because the stylists and hair and makeup staff have worked hard.”
In terms of acting, she said that her character is a unique role and it was well-written. ” I do some eye-popping exercises to give it a sharp expression. I also lowered the tone of my voice,” she expounded.
What Drives Her Passion For Acting
The actress is sometimes compared to the phrase “working like a cow”, because of her hard work and passion for acting. Jang Na-Ra said ” I have a dream of becoming an exceptional actress that is why I am working like a cow to fulfill that dream.
She is the kind of actress who puts her very best into every project she does.
In commemorating two decades of her acting career, Jan Na Ra has only warm words to her fans.
“I’m grateful for the fans. In fact, I’m so grateful that I love them steadily. Even though I’m an entertainer who isn’t funny or has a variety sense. I think being praised by fans is something that’s driving me to work hard. At the beginning of my debut, I had a lot of hard times, tears, and I wanted to quit. But now I think I’m grateful for that part of my life.”
