Park Soo Young, known as Red Velvet’s Joy, transforms into a social butterfly police officer for Accidental Country Diary.
SM Entertainment and Kakao TV confirm Park Soo Young as the female lead in Accidental Country Diary. She will be pairing with rookie actor Choo Young Woo who made notable portrayals in School 2021, Police University, and You Make Me Dance.
Director Kwon Seok Jang, who directed Bossam: Steal The Fate and Avengers Social Club, will pilot the drama.
Accidental Country Diary is a rom-com drama about a veterinarian based in Seoul, Han Ji Yool (Choo Young Woo). After he receives a call from his grandfather in Heedong Village, he is tasked with taking over his animal clinic while his grandfather is away.
He then meets Ahn Ja-young (Park Soo Young), who is preparing for her exams as she dreams of becoming a neighborhood police officer. She is also known to be considerate to those who need help in their village.
Upon Ji Yool’s arrival, her assistance with his problems flourishes into a romantic relationship.
The series will be based on original web novel of the same name written by Park Ha Min, which receives much love since its release.
Red Velvet’s Joy made her acting debut as Yoon So Rim in The Liar And His Lover. She then accepted lead roles in dramas Tempted and The One And Only.
The actress also expressed her excitement about being part of the Accidental Country Diary team.
“I am honored to be able to work with my usual respected director Kwon Seok Jang. Like the title of the drama, it’s a shelter that I stumbled upon, and I want to give comfort to the viewers. I will do my best to express the character of Ja Young well.”
Kakao TV’s Accidental Country Diary will run 12 episodes with about 30 minutes each time. The drama will be released in the second half of this year as a mid-form drama.
