JTBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama The Good Bad Mother boasts not just a talented lead cast but also showrunners.
Ra Mi Ran, Lee Do Hyun and Ahn Eun Jin are set to decorate the small screen with a therapeutic story brimming with laughter in The Good Bad Mother.
In charge of the production is Director Shim Na-yeon of Beyond Evil and At Eighteen fame. Penning the script is Writer Bae Se Young who worked on films Life is Beautiful, Extreme Job, and Intimate Strangers to name a few.
The series follows the story of a single mom who has been widowed at a young age, Young-soon runs a pig farm, and raises her son Kang-ho by herself. She becomes a “bad mother” – hard on her son because she doesn’t want him to grow up penniless or powerless.
Thanks to her discipline, Kang-ho grows up to be a prominent prosecutor, but loses his memory due to an unfortunate accident and becomes a 7-year-old again. Young-soon decides to become a “bad mother” again for Kang-ho in this comforting and touching comedy series that tracks the journey of recovery between mother and son.
Bad Mother Ra Mi Ran
Ra Mi Ran plays Yeong-soon, a bad mother who has lived a tenacious life to protect her children. She, who raised her son alone while running a pig farm, took on the role of a bad mother in order not to pass on her pain. The actress aims to make viewers laugh and cry by portraying the change of Yeong-soon, who becomes harsher the more she is in pain, and more terrible when she is sorry.
Expectations are high on how acting master Ra Mi Ran, who can handle any genre and role with her own color, will portray Yeong-soon’s special maternal love.
Ra Mi Ran said, “Good actors and staff are working hard to create a work. It is a warm drama with both laughter and emotion.”
The Son With a Bad Mother
Lee Do Hyun transforms into Kang-ho, a prominent prosecutor, but loses his memory due to an unfortunate accident.
Recently he showed the true value of an actor with the recent success of The Glory. He leads the series by going back and forth between a ruthless prosecutor and a child-like Kang-ho.
Lee Do Hyun expresses excitement about his new work.
“I am happy and excited to be able to do good work with good people. There are many difficult moments, but thanks to the actors, director, and writer, I think it will be a more interesting challenge than fear.”
Kang-ho’s Haven
Kang-ho’s old friend and only go-to person, Mi-joo, is played by Ahn Eun Jin. Mi-joo, who has a deep heart, is a bold character who cannot tolerate injustice.
She returns to her hometown after burning all of her love and honor and is broke. It is expected that the true value of Ahn Eun Jin, who is absolutely trusted by the public for her solid acting skills and personality, will shine once again.
Ahn Eun Jin shares thoughts about her latest project.
