Chief Detective 1958 is a prequel to Chief Inspector Park, an iconic Korean investigative drama. It is set 10 years earlier and will cover the younger days of detective Park Young-han, Korea’s representative fictional detective who received full support and love from viewers.
Moreover, it threads on how detective Park Young-han and three unique colleagues stand up to ugly crimes and become detectives for the people in the era of atrocity.
It is expected to be a dynamic story of Detective Park Young-han, who specializes in apprehending petty thieves in a barbaric era, as he teams up with colleagues to break the absurdities of corrupt power with common sense and become a detective for the people.
In an era in which crimes were solved solely with innate sense, insight, and tenacity, without profiling or the usual CCTV, it is expected to feature retro crime investigation drama, incorporating romance and joy of analog investigation.
This will provide a unique experience to the younger generation and a different kind of fun and emotion to the generation that remembers the activities of Chief Inspector Park.
A Delightful Retro-Romance Between a Detective and Bookstore Owner
Lee Je Hoon plays the younger version of the legendary Captain Park. He is a resolute hillbilly detective equipped with a smart ‘gang’, and although he is more humane than anyone else, he is a person with the hardness and insight of an ox horn who is unwavering under any external pressure. Park Young-han’s fearless and unstoppable actions in fighting against the injustice of the times will give you a refreshing and thrilling feeling.
Seo Eun Soo portrays Lee Hye-ju, the owner of Jongnam Seorim, who has a sharp personality and a warm heart, adding a spoonful of excitement to the delightful investigative drama.
In the previous teaser video, she misunderstood Park Young-han, saying, “Isn’t he a crazy person, not a detective?”, but she slowly comes to realize the upright sincerity that he possesses.
