A new delightful cohabitation rom-com is underway for the highly anticipated Doona!
Doona! traces the fates of Lee Won-jun, a college student, and the enigmatic ex-K-Pop idol, Lee Doona, as they meet and fall in love while living in a sharehouse.
Suzy, lauded for Anna, Start-Up and While You Were Sleeping, plays Doona, an ex-idol. Alongside, Yang Se Jong, known for Still 17, Dr. Romantic 1 & 2, embodies Won-jun, anchoring Doona’s stormy voyage. Showcasing a stellar combination–especially with Suzy’s dual credibility as a K-pop sensation and seasoned actress– the series is highly anticipated.
Suzy appears to have been reborn in the released stills as an irresistibly attractive Lee Doona, from her idol days to her daily life at the shared house.
Describing her character, Suzy shared Doona is honest and outspoken, but she also has a lot of hurt and loneliness so she feels like a cat with sharp claws. But she is like a ‘dog and cat’ who likes people.
A fan favorite to play the role of Doona, director Lee Jung-hyo echoes the same opinion.
“It was good because it gave me a sense of immersion while acting spontaneously when given direction. She is an actress with many surprising qualities.”
Meanwhile, Yang Se Jong plays Lee Won-jun, a college student who runs forward for his family and his future. Won-jun, who has started living on his own due to the long distance to commute to school, first encounters Doona at the main gate of the shared house.
Won-jun, who is not familiar with the idol world, thought of Doona as just someone he had seen before somewhere. She speaks informally and for some reason, she kept getting caught in his eyes and it bothered him.
Expressing his thoughts working on Doona!, Yang Se Jong relayed feeling excited while watching the original work. He wonders what would it be like if this happened in reality.
Likewise, Director Lee was impressed and said Yang created a life-long character by delicately portraying Won-jun’s naturally changing mind.
“Working with Yang Se-jong, I thought, ‘This guy is really pure. I thought, ‘He’s really the same as Wonjun.’ “I thought he had a high level of synergy with Wonjun in that he was always serious but had no hesitation in expressing his emotions.“
Doona! will be released on Netflix on October 20th.
