Kim Eun Sook has ramped up interest in her latest work, The Glory, a revenge drama that contrasts her earlier creations.

Netflix’s upcoming series The Glory follows a woman whose innocence was ruined by childhood violence and now sets a vicious vengeance she has plotted and prepared for her whole life.

Writer Kim Eun Sook was previously known for her bittersweet romances. This includes dramas like A Gentleman’s Dignity, Secret Garden, The Heirs, Descendants of the Sun, Mr. Sunshine, and The King: Eternal Monarch which were all huge successes.

Based on her creations, melodrama is not her primary genre. In addition, Kim Eun Sook discussed the transition toward melodramatic writing.

“You will feel a little different because the representative works were sweet. I have been coming up with new takes on drama, and The Glory is part of that challenge.”

The Glory introduces its six characters together with Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), Joo Yeo Jung (Lee Do Hyun), Park Yeon Jin (Im Ji Yeon), Kang Hyun Nam (Yeom Hye Ran), Ha Do Young (Jung Sung Il), and Jeon Jae Joon (Park Sung Hoon).

It details the characters’ aspirations and shortcomings while tickling the viewers’ interest in the process. These people’s lives are entangled in a way that foreshadows a world of tragic and desperate retribution.
