“Island” Paraded Cha Eun Woo In His Priest Role and Dear God Forgive K-Drama Fans Who Have Sinned

Island Cha Eun Woo

Modestly opening to a “fight for evil” narrative, Island starring Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee and Cha Eun Woo is now streaming on Prime Video.

Island traverses the journey of the characters who are destined to fight against the “evil” that is trying to destroy the world.

The series is based on the webtoon of the same name by writers Yoon In-wan and Yang Kyung-il. It was remastered as a webtoon 19 years after its publication in 1997 and later became popular as it was serialized on Naver Webtoon.

Notably, the fantasy-action to be highlighted in the drama is set to unfold in the background of Jeju Island, which brims with folk tales.

A total standout, Cha Eun Woo transforms into his role as Priest Yohan. In the first episode, he is seen performing exorcising a demon-possessed woman.

Despite the evil spirits screaming to be freed, Yohan maintains a calm appearance wearing a headset. Soon, he began the exorcism in earnest, and despite the fiercely rebellious demon, he easily succeeds without any change in expression.

Later, in the monastery, he is told by the abbot to protect the only savior who would prevent the cracks and destruction of the world. Staring at the picture of a woman from the prophetic book, Yohan vaunts a determined expression.

Subsequently, the second episode depicts Yohan arriving on Jeju Island and meeting Butler Jang (Oh Gwang Rok) who takes care of Won Mi-ho (Lee Da Hee). Engaging in small talk, Butler Jang comments being surprised to see a Korean exorcist and how he speaks Korean well. Yohan smartly quips that he likes K-Pop and K-Dramas, so it helped him.

With a mission to investigate the cryptic situation on Jeju Island, his investigation led to the remains of lust monsters vanquished by Van (Kim Nam Gil).

From serious to playful looks, Priest Yohan is capturing the viewers’ attention. In particular, Cha Eun Woo also did his homework well with his lines spoken in the Italian language.

Moreover, his handsome visuals in priestly uniform and casual clothing while being immersed in his character are captivating fans. Adorably, being smitten by his latest K-Drama character is warranted as it’s hard not to fall for his palpable charms.
