Welcome to Samdalri

JTBC knows no intention to break its winning streak this year and has tapped bankable actors and a creative team for its upcoming romantic series!

To be steered by director Cha Young-hoon of When The Camellia Blooms and Forecasting Love and Weather fame, Welcome to Samdalri (LT) is penned by Kwon Hye-joo who wrote hit healing dramas Confession Couple and Hi Bye Mama.

Welcome to Samdalri threads on the story of a woman who after losing everything, returns to her hometown to take a breather. She reconnects with an old friend who stayed in their hometown as he cherished it a lot.

Aiming to present a healing time from the perspectives of characters, the series is expected to give viewers a warm and friendly feeling and laughter.

Portraying the lead characters are Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun.

Ji Chang Wook plays Jo Yong-pil, a forecaster at the Jeju Meteorological Administration. He is famous for being uncontrollable even by the headquarters. This is because he is a person who always presents a counterargument to the weather forecast issued by the headquarters. He stands firm to his convictions and he often engages in verbal war with the head of the Korea Meteorological Administration.

After losing her mother who was a haenyeo due to a false weather report, he dreamed of becoming a forecaster. In accordance with his dream, he is working as a meteorologist to protect the precious elders in Jeju Island, which he cherishes and loves with all his heart, especially in Samdalri, his hometown.

Next, Shin Hye Sun plays famous photographer Jo Eun-hye. As far as she can remember, Eun-hye dreamed of growing up quickly and leaving the island from her childhood. Escaping to Seoul, Eun-hye worked as an assistant in the fashion photography industry under her stage name, Dok-jong. She endured for eight years and rose to the top.

However, the success she built with so much effort over such a long period of time collapses too easily in an instant due to an incident. She eventually returns to her hometown, where she re-figures her comeback.

Interestingly, Yong-pil and Eun-hye were born and raised together in Samdalri. Always stuck together, they spent more days together than days when they didn’t have each other in their lives.

However, it has been many years since they stopped contacting each other. However, as Eun-hye makes a comeback to the hometown that Yong-pil cherished, their feelings will develop romantically.

The production team targets to present a healing romantic story that will become a gift to viewers.

We sincerely welcome rom-com masters Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun as they will show optimized acting for the role of Samdali’s famous buddies Yongpil and Samdal. The series will be a great reminder of the value of the things we lost in the past. It will be a work that will make you think about how precious the numerous relationships that have passed by in our lives are once again.”

Welcome to Samdalri is scheduled to be broadcast on JTBC in the second half of the year.
