Promising a haunting good time with a side of forbidden romance, this 2025 SBS drama aims to leave the audience wanting more.
귀궁 Haunted Palace (LT) is led by the phenomenal Kim Ji Yeon (Twenty-Five Twenty-One) as Yeo-ri. Forget your grandma’s dusty tarot cards – Yeo-ri’s a fierce shaman with magic powers passed down from a legendary bloodline. But crafting glasses for the bespectacled masses is more her speed than predicting future.
However, fate (or maybe a disgruntled spirit) throws Yeo-ri into a predicament. Her first love gets possessed by a giant, failed-dragon snake monster! Talk about an awkward way to end a relationship!
In Haunted Palace, Yeo-ri navigates strong emotions and confusion as she faces the eight-faced ghost alongside her nemesis, imoogi, who has taken over Yoon-gap’s body. This sets the stage for an electrifying anti-hero romance with Yook Sung-jae. Yook Sung Jae (The Golden Spoon) who plays Yoon Gap, a character whose transformation into the Imoogi adds complexity and excitement to the storyline. Fans are excited to see how Yook SungJae balances Yoon Gap’s human and malevolent spirit sides.
But hey, there’s always a silver lining, right? Yeo-ri is forced to team up with her mortal enemy – the very same snake monster chilling in her ex’s body – to fight spectral foes. Think enemies-to-frenemies-with-benefits, where the benefits include survival and maybe, just maybe, a touch of forbidden romance that’ll leave you sweating more than a dragon guarding its treasure hoard.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the chemistry between Yook Sung Jae and Kim Ji Yeon, both visually and in their acting.
Meanwhile, Kim Ji Hoon (Death’s Game) joins the cast as King Lee Seong, a reformist monarch with dreams of a strong Joseon Dynasty, who battles the Palchukgwi, a spirit harboring a grudge against the royal family. Despite laws prohibiting female shamans, King Lee Seong teams up with his trusted subject Yoon Gap and the shaman Yeo-ri to uncover the mystery of the Palchukgwi as ominous events plague the palace.
The production team expressed their excitement, stating, “Kim Ji-yeon and Yook Sung-jae will transform into the ‘dream couple’ that everyone fantasizes about. Their genuine and unadorned acting will deepen the immersion in their characters’ relationships and story. Watch for the dark histories recorded in their memories and the new chapter that unfolds with their reunion.“
