Lee Jun Young Challenges Interesting Character In “The Impossible Heir”

Portraying Kang In-ha, the actor is set to present a character where good and evil coexist.

The Impossible Heir threads on how the illegitimate son of a Korean conglomerate owner partners with his ambitious childhood friend who stops at nothing to seize their place at the top of the societal food chain.

Kang In-ha, played by Lee Jun Young, is a person who hides extreme desires behind a free-spirited appearance. He is an extramarital son of the Kangoh Group, Korea’s top conglomerate. To receive recognition for his abandoned existence, he allies with Han Tae-oh (Lee Jae Wook), who approaches him under the name of his friend, and harbors an ambition to rise from the lowest to the highest.

Introducing his character, Lee shares how he prepared for his new role.

Kang In-ha is a character whose true feelings are unknown and who does not reveal his pain very often. I think I will be able to show many different sides of myself, going back and forth between good and evil. I tried a lot because I wanted to express the freedom of the character.

Director Min Yeon-hong, who was in charge of directing, relays details about Lee’s portrayal as well.

Lee Jun Young had a strong will to play the villain, and I thought he was an actor who suited the villain very well. To depict the dramatic changes and narrative of Kang In-ha, we divided the character-building into stages. As he is a three-dimensional character where good and evil coexist, I always consulted with Lee Jun Young to distinguish between emotions and create the character.

The Impossible Heir starring Lee Jun Young is scheduled to be released on February 28th.
