Picturesque and captivating, Lovers of the Red Sky main stars are featured in quaint character introductions
Lovers of the Red Sky tells the story of Hong Cheon Gi (Kim Yoo Jung), an artist with extraordinary aesthetic insight and skills who became the first female painter of the Dohwaseo (Korean Royal Academy of Painting).
During her stay in the palace, she gets embroiled in a love triangle with Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop), an officer well-versed in astronomy and meteorology who lost his sight in a childhood accident, and the Grand Prince Anpyeong (Gong Myung) who is an art enthusiast.
The drama is set in the fictional era of “Dan Dynasty” and will be helmed by director Jang Tae Yu of Hyena, My Love From The Star and Tree With Deep Roots fame. It is a drama adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jung Eun Gwol, the author of The Moon Embracing the Sun and Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
Kim Yoo Jung as Hong Cheon Gi
Returning to the period-drama genre, Kim Yoo Jung draws attention to her new role as Hong Cheon Gi. She suits up to the role of a genius painter who perseveres for her father’s medical treatment.
This will be Kim’s historical drama comeback since Moon Embracing the Sun. In the released photos, the actress brightens the day with robust energy and a beaming smile. Another image shows her immersed in a drawing.
Showing confidence to Kim Yoo Jung, the production team relayed the actress’s synergy to her role since the first filming. They add that there’s no other actress fit to play Hong Cheon Gi but the actress.
Ahn Hyo Seop as Haram
In Lovers of the Red Sky, Ahn Hyo Seop challenges his first historical production. Suiting up to the role of red-eyed Haram, the actor evokes enigmatic presence. His still cut vaunts a look of nobility with an aura that cannot be approached.
Likewise, the production team invites viewers to anticipate the mysterious charm of Ahn Hyo Seop as Haram.
Gong Myung as Prince Yang Myeong
Lastly, entrancing with his emotional stance, Gong Myung blends his manly beauty to the stunning vista befitting of his prince character.
The actor plays Prince Yang Myeong. He is the third prince of the Dan dynasty with a free spirit. He is a romantic person who loves poetry, calligraphy, and painting. However, he also harbors furtive loneliness inside.
His life changes when he meets Hong Cheon Gi, as she captivates him with her unrivaled painting skills.
For his role, Gong Myung devoted himself to studying and learning painting and calligraphy to be in harmony with Prince Yang Myung.
