Reigniting their on-screen chemistry after a decade, Uhm Jung Hwa and Song Seung Heon headline the Genie TV original drama, My Golden Star (LT), set to shine in late 2025.
My Golden Star weaves a captivating tale of Bong Cheong-ja, a top star whose life takes an unexpected detour, leaving her as an ordinary middle-aged woman with 25 years of vanished memories.
Uhm Jung Hwa takes on the role of Bong Cheong-ja, a former top star who mysteriously vanishes for 25 years, only to reappear with no memory of her past. Once known as Im Se-ra, a dominant force in the Korean entertainment industry, she now faces the challenge of reclaiming her stardom.
Uhm expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I’m thrilled to be part of such a meaningful and entertaining project. Our entire team is putting in great effort, so please look forward to it.”
Song Seung Heon plays Dokgo Chul, a once-promising detective who was demoted to traffic duty after an unfortunate incident. To return to his old division, he goes undercover as Bong Cheong-ja’s manager—only to get caught up in her whirlwind attempt to reclaim her past identity as Im Se-ra.
Song shared his excitement, saying, “‘My Golden Star’ is filled with fun and touching moments. I can’t wait for viewers to see my new side as Dokgo Chul, and I’m especially excited to reunite with Uhm Jung-hwa after so long.”
Lee El steps into the role of Ko Hee-young, an actress who spent years as a supporting character in Im Se-ra’s shadow. After Im Se-ra disappeared, Ko Hee-young finally rose to global fame. But when whispers of Im Se-ra’s return begin to spread, her carefully built world is thrown into chaos. Lee El expressed her admiration, saying, “As someone who grew up watching Uhm Jung-hwa’s performances, I’m beyond excited to act alongside such an icon.”
Oh Dae Hwan plays Kang Doo-won, the CEO of Two One Entertainment, who once worked as Im Se-ra’s road manager. Having endured hardships to reach the top of the industry, he’s rattled when she resurfaces after 25 years. Oh shared his joy, saying, “I’m thrilled to be part of ‘My Golden Star’ and even happier to work with Uhm Jung-hwa again after so long.”
Helmed by the director of One the Woman and Good Casting, My Golden Star promises to be a refreshing blend of humor, drama, and nostalgia. The series will air on Genie TV and ENA in late 2025—mark your calendars for a story that’s bound to shine!
