Starring Sung Hoon, Jung Yoo Min, Jin Ji Hee and Kang Shin Hyo – based on a popular original web novel of the same title, Perfect Marriage Revenge tells the story of a woman who gains a second chance at life and chooses to get into a contract marriage for revenge.
The drama has garnered a lot of attention for its intriguing plot after its premiere, and viewers are looking forward to more dramatic twists as the lead character gets her revenge!
What if you were given a chance to escape a troubled marriage? We have all thought about it at some point, “What if I could start over?” or “I wish I could go back and change things.” We feel regret and frustration about the things we can’t change in our lives, but we also daydream about a perfect life free from any regrets.
It was supposed to be just another day when Yi-ju (Jung Yoo Min) witnessed her husband, Se-hyuk (Oh Seung-yeon) profess his love to her sister, Yu-ra (Jin Ji Hee). Tragically, Yi-ju was killed in a fatal car crash while leaving the shocking scene behind.
That wasn’t all that Yi-Ju had discovered that day. She learned an even more shocking truth. That is, her husband only married Yi-Ju to stay close to Yu-ra. With her angelic looks, Yu-ra has been despising and manipulating Yi-ju all these years. Even her parents have been mistreating Yi-ju because she wasn’t their own child but an adopted one.
Seo Do-guk (Sung Hoon) is the CEO of an interior company and the grandson of Taeja Group’s founder. He makes heads turn with his perfect visuals, but he is loyal to the one that he truly loves. After gaining a second chance at life, Yi-joo takes fate into her hands and enters a contract marriage with Do-guk for the purpose of revenge.
As Do-guk’s kindness starts to warm Yi-ju’s heart, the two of them begin to develop real feelings for each other beyond the boundaries of their contract marriage. Despite the pain and bitterness, they carry on from their past experiences. The main characters’ journey of renewal and thrilling revenge promises to be a refreshing escape from a repressed life.
With the recognition and success of the original work, the production aims to create a drama that is more realistic and empathetic than the novel.
Perfect Marriage Revenge is helmed by director Oh Sang-won who directed popular and highly rated dramas Love ft. Marriage & Divorce S3 & Poseidon and written by Im Seo-ra who wrote well received drama Feel Good to Die.
