PRESS CONFERENCE: “Love, Take Two” To Unveil Heartwarming Middle-Aged Romance

Love, laughter, and a little late-life chaos are about to take over the small screen as Love, Take Two – tvN’s newest drama gears up for its premiere.

A production press conference was recently held via Tving and Naver TV, with director Yoo Je-won and lead cast members Yum Jung Ah, Park Hae Joon, Choi Yoon Ji, and Kim Min Kyu in attendance. The event gave viewers a warm, sincere preview of the heartfelt story to come—and offered a glimpse of the touching chemistry behind the scenes.

Love, Take Two follows the intertwined lives of a single mother and her medical student daughter, both of whom unexpectedly find themselves stepping into a new chapter—one where they live not for tomorrow, but fully in today. As they confront old wounds and stumble upon new beginnings, they experience love not as a finale, but as something fresh and transformative. With moments that are funny, tender, and achingly real, the drama promises to touch hearts and spark reflection among viewers across generations.

At the heart of the story is a much-anticipated middle-aged romance between Yum Jung Ah and Park Hae Joon.

Yeom, who plays the role of a mother rediscovering love later in life, candidly shared her initial hesitation. “I’m older than Park Hae-joon, so I was worried at first about playing his younger sister in the drama,” she said with a smile. “I also wondered if I was acting a bit too cute for my age.”

But any doubts were quickly put to rest once filming began. Park Hae-joon, known for his grounded performances, expressed deep admiration for his co-star: “When I fully immerse myself in the role, it genuinely feels like she’s my hyung,” he joked, drawing laughter. “I tried to find flaws in Yeom Jeong-ah, but I couldn’t. Every time I stand in front of her, I feel this pressure—but in a good way. It’s inspiring. I don’t know if I’ll ever work with someone like her again.

The drama also explores the complex, emotionally loaded relationship between mother and daughter, brought to life by Yum Jung Ah and rising actress Choi Yoon Ji. Choi plays the daughter, a medical student who enters her field largely due to her mother’s relentless nagging. “My character loves her mom, but she’s a bitter person who doesn’t know how to express it,” Choi explained. She confessed she was nervous to work with Yeom Jeong-ah, whom she’s long admired. “She gave me homemade sikhye and soybean paste. I was so touched. Just looking at her face makes me tear up. She’s truly the warmest person I’ve met—and the best luck I’ve ever had.

Yum Jung Ah also drew on her real-life experiences as a mother. “I felt a deep connection to my character,” she shared. “Like her, I’ve been through those painful moments when your child hits their own version of puberty, and you don’t know how to reach them.

Director Yoo Je-won, known for helming hits such as Hometown Cha-Cha-ChaCrash Course in Romance, and Love Next Door, emphasized that while the show incorporates elements of romance, family, and friendship, it’s ultimately anchored in the mother-daughter bond. “This isn’t just about love stories—it’s about navigating relationships at different stages of life. The mother-daughter dynamic is at the heart of it all,” he said. “Casting was critical, and I’m genuinely thrilled with this ensemble. Every actor fits their role so naturally.”

Before wrapping up, Yoo also issued a heartfelt plea to viewers. “The domestic film and drama industry is facing tough times. We need your support—please continue watching and loving Korean dramas so we can keep telling these kinds of stories.

Featuring a fresh take on second chances, authentic performances, and rich emotional layers, Love, Take Two is poised to be more than just another romance—it’s a celebration of growth, forgiveness, and finding joy where you least expect it.
