Unveiling a bittersweet story, JTBC’s upcoming drama Snowdrop starring Jung Hae In and Kim Jisoo launches on December 18.
Snowdrop follows Su-ho (Jung Hae In), a well-known university student who seeks refuge in a women’s dormitory. In the middle of the crisis, he encounters Young-ro (Jisoo), a female university student who hides and treats him.
At the recent press conference, PD Cho Hyun Tak recalled his peculiar and inexplicable experience working on Snowdrop.
“I was very surprised from the director’s point of view when I saw the edited version of Snowdrop. The basic story is a love story between two people. When I saw the final version recently, I felt that thrill, mystery, suspense, action, and various characters’ comedies were well blended in the right place. I am having a unique and strange experience.”
Moreover, director Choi mentioned how writer Yoo Hyun Mi was inspired to write the drama’s compelling story.
“I know that writer Yoo, who wrote this work, has been planning it for a very long time. I know that she got his inspiration from reading the memoir of a North Korean defector who defected from a political prison camp in 2008. She went through a lot of twists and turns and processes to expand the story.”
Director Choi subsequently remarked that writer Yoo’s experience at a woman’s university helped bring the Snowdrop plot together.
“In the meantime, writer Yoo herself went to college in the 80s and had experience in a women’s university dormitory. Witht this premise Snodrop was merged, and the story took shape in earnest.”
On Providing The Main Lead’s Gratifying Encounter
Meanwhile, Jung Hae In encapsulates the series, noting that its story was the most intriguing. Notably, there are unpredictable endings and developments in the drama’s storyline that viewers should anticipate.
“The first time I met the director, I was very confident. Together I felt the belief that if I made a work on the set, I would be able to act very rewardingly and happily. He gave complete trust in me, so I couldn’t help but do this work.”
On the other hand, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo embraces her first acting challenge and describes her brimming character in the series.
“Before I auditioned, I received the script and read it. Young-ro is a very bright and charming friend, so I hope I can share this bright energy with people. I think I was drawn to it.”
Receiving widespread attention as a highly anticipated work, Snowdrop has been embroiled in controversy over historical distortions such as pre-broadcast spies, the military government, and the beautification of the National Security Agency.
On top of that, PD Choi clarified the difficulties in accepting the drama’s issues that were publicly leaked.
“However, it is my first time working in three years, and the writer is working with great responsibility and sense of duty, so I don’t think there is anything like what the people think.”
On A Quick Look To Jisoo’s Heart-Wrenching Journey
Similarly, he invites viewers to anticipate Jisoo’s love story, which begins with a hint of exhilaration and progresses to a point of terrible agony.
“Jisoo’s love story begins with a little excitement, and then goes through an extreme level of pain that one human being can’t handle. I hope that you all watch together to see whether the love given to the two of them is a blessing or a harsh curse.”
