Promising great acting performance, The Law Cafe is confident to launch an enjoyable rom-com drama.
KBS 2TV’s new drama, The Law Cafe, scheduled to broadcast every 9:50 pm KST on Monday and Tuesday is a romantic comedy-drama adapted from a popular web novel written by Noh Seung-ah.
Directed by Lee Eun Jin, the drama follows the story of a former prosecutor named Kim Jung-ho (Lee Seung Gi) and Kim Yu-ri (Lee Se Young), a tenant lawyer in his building.
In the drama’s press conference, the main cast is introduced, which includes Lee Seung Gi, Lee Se Young, Kim Nam Hee, Kim Seul Gi, and Oh Dong Min.
Set Filled with Talented Cast
Confident with the drama, Director Lee Eun Jin guarantees that The Law Cafe will be enjoyed by many.
“These days, warm and good dramas are fun. So, ‘The Law Cafe’ is an interesting drama.”
Adding to what she has said, the director praises the cast’s acting skills and personality.
“The first thing I saw during the casting process was acting skills. Only actors who are good at acting were cast. There is no hole at all…Everyone is really nice.”
In particular, Director Lee Eun Jin recognizes Lee Seung Gi’s similarity with his character, which adds value to his role in the drama.
“Lee Seung Gi (with Jung-hos’ character) has a synchronization rate of 300%…he’s very mischievous. He knows a lot and is logical. It’s like the character Jung-ho in the play.”
Reunited after 4 years
Drawing attention because of their reunion four years after A Korean Odyssey, Lee Se Young comments on the changes in their characters back then.
“The relationship has changed. Back then, I was a zombie character living in Lee Seung Gi’s house. I was bullied, but now I take care of him. I’m happily filming.”
Complimenting the actress, Lee Seung Gi tells how much he looks up to the energy Lee Se Young has.
“Lee Se Young gives a lot of energy. She has a lot of volume and a lot of lines, but she is always energetic and bright without showing any signs of exhaustion. I respect her.”
Warmth in the Rom-Com Drama
Taking on the role of a former prosecutor and now a web novel writer, Lee Seung Gi’s character Kim Jung-ho has a long-time crush on Kim Yu-ri, which is portrayed by Lee Se Young.
The two meet again as Kim Yu-ri, who used to work at a large law firm, opens up a law cafe in Kim Jung-ho’s building.
Coming back to the romantic comedy genre after a long time, actor Lee Seung Gi appreciates the essence of the genre.
“It’s been a very long time since I felt ‘Roco’ (Romantic Comedy) tasted like this.”
Comparing his previous works, actor Lee Seung Gi notes how comfortable it is working in the romantic comedy genre.
“In previous works, the genre was strong and there were a lot of difficulties filming. This drama is a comfortable work with human, healing, and comedy elements. I am enjoying filming without any burden. The best actors to make a good rom-com have gathered.”
Previously appearing in the popular drama, The Red Sleeve, actress Lee Se Young tells how that was her first time starring in a successful drama.
From playing a strong role, her character at present in The Law Cafe is both erratic and lovely. Lee Se Young describes how much effort they’re giving to portray their characters well, given a fun script that viewers can look forward to.
“I don’t think I can do it on my own. However, we are doing our best. We are trying to show you a fun side like a hot-tempered temperament that we have not shown. The script is so interesting. I’m working hard.”
