TVING’s upcoming historical drama, Queen Woo, promises a thrilling tale of power, intrigue, and survival.
Set in the tumultuous aftermath of the king’s demise, Queen Woo tells the story of Empress Woo, who finds herself at the center of a fierce struggle for power. With various factions vying for control and princes contending for the throne, Queen Woo faces the monumental task of installing a new king within 24 hours.
This series, TVING’s first foray into historical drama, boasts a stellar cast, including Jeon Jong Seo as Woo Hee, Kim Mu Yeol as Eulpaso, Jung Yu Mi as Woo Soon, Lee Soo Hyuk as Go Bal-gi, Park Ji Hwan as Moo-gol, and Ji Chang Wook as Go Nam-moo.
The newly released teaser poster showcases Woo Hee (Jeon Jong Seo) with a commanding presence amid the chaos following the king’s death. Clad in a glittering gold crown, her stoic figure stands before the king’s lifeless body, radiating a formidable aura. Her expression hints at the heavy burden she bears, revealing a sense of tragedy rather than mere sorrow over her husband’s death.
Another teaser poster contrasts Woo Hee’s royal attire with her battle-ready armor as she draws a bow, emphasizing the dramatic shift from regal elegance to warrior resolve. The tagline, “The king’s death, you must survive on your own,” underscores the dramatic stakes as Woo Hee fights to secure her position amid the turmoil.
The teaser video ramps up the tension, depicting the chaos within the Goguryeo palace following King Go Nam-mu’s (Ji Chang-wook) unexpected death. With her family in crisis and enemies closing in, Woo Hee is thrust into a desperate struggle for survival. Her transformation from queen to warrior, guided by Go Nam-mu’s parting advice to “protect yourself,” sets the stage for intense action and dramatic confrontations.
The series will explore the intricate relationships among key figures: Queen Woo Hee, facing the threat of being dethroned; Eul Pa-so (Kim Mu Yeol); Woo Soon (Jung Yu Mi); the third prince and throne contender Go Bal-gi (Lee Soo- Hyuk); and Moo-gol (Park Ji Hwan), who will play a pivotal role in the power struggle.
Premiering on Thursday, August 29, Queen Woo, directed by Jung Se-kyo and written by Lee Byung-hak, promises a riveting power struggle that will thrill the viewers.
