As KBS2 is on fire with recent successful feats in period dramas, a new one is coming up promising the same fate!
Scheduled for Monday-Tuesday slot, 붉은 단심 Red Heart (LT) has confirmed Lee Joon, Kang Han Na and Jang Hyuk in the lead roles.
Red Heart depicts a fictional historical drama. It chronicles the tense political confrontation between a king who dreams of becoming an absolute monarch and a kingmaker who wants to turn the king into a “royal flower”.
Additionally, Yoo-jeong (Kang Han Na) portrays a free spirit who gets caught up in a power struggle in the royal court.
In the drama, Lee Joon (The Silent Sea, My Father is Strange) takes on the role of Lee Tae, who succeeds Seonjong as the king of Joseon. He is a person who believes that any action is justified in order to achieve his goal.
Meanwhile, Kang Han Na (Start-Up, My Roommate is a Gumiho) characterizes Yoo-jeong, a soul who is too advanced to be bound by strict Confucian doctrines and too free to be confined and restricted. Lee Tae falls in love with Yoo-jeong’s freedom. It leads to a crisis in Yoo-jeong’s family as she gets involved in a power struggle in the court.
Lastly, Jang Hyuk (Tell Me What You Saw, My Country) takes on the role of Park Gye-won, who creates pressure on Lee Tae, thereby raising a tense conflict.
Dubbed as a king influencer, he wields significant power. Aiming to make a wise and benevolent king to strengthen the foundation of Joseon, his goal hints at being derailed. Silent and evident contention between him and Lee Tae eventually arises.
Interestingly, Red Single Heart reunites Lee Joon and Jang Hyuk since 2013 drama Iris 2. Thus, raising expectations on their latest collaboration.
Red Heart is scheduled to air in the first half of 2022.
