JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama, Romance in the House is not just a tale of a tumultuous family melodrama—it also promises a fresh romance.
The plot revolves around a tense family reunion when Byun Moo-jin (Ji Jin Hee), the estranged father who was expelled 11 years ago, returns as the landlord of the family’s residence.
This dramatic family narrative centers on Moo-jin’s desire to reunite with his family, and the staunch opposition from his ex-wife Geum Ae-yeon (Kim Ji Soo) and daughter Byun Mi-rae (Son Na Eun). Alongside this intense family drama, the series also anticipates a captivating romance.
According to the production team, the story primarily follows Byun Mi-rae and Nam Tae-pyeong (Choi Minho), who both have unique and tumultuous family histories. Mi-rae has disowned her father since his scandalous actions which led to the family’s downfall. She and her mother have since rebuilt their lives. However, their peace is disrupted when Moo-jin returns as their landlord, causing daily turmoil. Despite being estranged, Moo-jin’s return to reconcile with Ae-yeon is a shocking revelation for Mi-rae.
In the midst of this family chaos, Tae-pyeong becomes Mi-rae’s source of comfort. Always appearing in her moments of need, Tae-pyeong offers simple solace. Though he seems like an ordinary Taekwondo instructor and security guard, he is actually the youngest son of a wealthy family. As Mi-rae learns more about Tae-pyeong’s complicated background, their bond deepens.
The production team has released teaser images showing sweet moments between Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong, including a bicycle ride and a cafe meeting, highlighting their growing connection.
The team commented, “‘Romance in the House combines an intense family melodrama with a refreshing and heartfelt romance between Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong. Mi-rae, who has always lived for her family, will find balance thanks to Tae-pyeong. We hope viewers look forward to their story, which promises fresh excitement and simple comfort.”
Romance in the House launches on August 10, following the conclusion of Miss Night and Day.
