The phenomenal actor challenges the role of a cold-blooded prosecutor and child-like grown man when The Good Bad Mother premieres.
Ra Mi Ran, Lee Do Hyun and Ahn Eun Jin are set to decorate the small screen with a therapeutic story brimming with laughter in The Good Bad Mother.
The series follows the story of a single mom who has been widowed at a young age, Young-soon runs a pig farm, and raises her son Kang-ho by herself. She becomes a “bad mother” – hard on her son because she doesn’t want him to grow up penniless or powerless.
Thanks to her discipline, Kang-ho grows up to be a prominent prosecutor, but loses his memory due to an unfortunate accident and becomes a 7-year-old again. Young-soon decides to become a “bad mother” again for Kang-ho in this comforting and touching comedy series that tracks the journey of recovery between mother and son.
In charge of the production is Director Shim Na-yeon of Beyond Evil and At Eighteen fame. Penning the script is Writer Bae Se Young who worked on films Life is Beautiful, Extreme Job, and Intimate Strangers to name a few.
Lee Do Hyun’s Interesting Characterization
As seen in the photos unveiled Kang-ho’s change draws attention.
First of all, his school days, when he devoted himself to studying, saving even time to eat and sleep, captures interest. Regardless of his will, Kang-ho became a competent and rational prosecutor after quenching himself for his mother’s old dream.
However, the moment they believed that Yeongsoon and Kangho’s happiness was complete, they faced another misfortune. In the ensuing photos, the charisma of the cold-blooded prosecutor is nowhere to be found.
Instead, we see his innocent appearance making us wonder about the change that befell him.
Together with Jouri Village’s mascots, twin siblings Ye-jin (Ki So-yu) and Seo-jin (Park Da-on), he sits side by side receiving punishment, making viewers smile. Indeed, it arouses curiosity about what unexpected accident happened to Kang-ho.
Giving a peek at his character, Lee Do Hyun confessed wanting to do the project as soon as he read the script. He also shares his character preparation.
“It was a very warm and healing script. Choi Kang-ho became a prosecutor by studying hard under the pressure of his mother. There’s a clear difference between portraying the prosecutor and child-Kang-ho. But I thought a lot about how to make it not look awkward. I tried to differentiate myself especially when I was with other characters.“
JTBC’s The Good Bad Mother will be broadcast for the first time on April 26 at 10:30 pm with a total of 14 episodes.
