“The Law Cafe” Unveils First Script Reading Starring Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young

Another legal-romance drama is on the way! The main cast of The Law Cafe exploded with synergy from the first script reading.

KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday series, The Law Cafe, is a drama based on the famous web novel “Love According to the Law” written by Noh Seung Ah which has recorded more than 25 million views.

In The Law Cafe, Lee Se-young stars as Kim Yu-ri, a beauty pageant star turned lawyer, who starts running a law firm that also doubles as a café. She meets Kim Jeong-ho (Lee Seung-gi), a former prosecutor who was known as a “monster genius” during his time there. He’s now the landlord and building owner of Yu-ri’s law café.

Gathered for the script reading, the lead stars and creative team aim to captivate viewers. Director Lee Eun Jin led the table-read while the cast enlivens the event.

From sweet rom-com sensibility to humor and sympathy, The Law Cafe is one of the most anticipated works in the year’s second half.

The collaboration of writer Im Ji Eun, who boasts a unique composition and solid writing skills throughout the show is raising expectations for a stress-free drama that will bring both excitement and healing.

Furthermore, the talented lead pairing of Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young with an impressive supporting cast including Kim Nam Hee, Jo Han Chul, Kim Seul Gi, Jeon Kuk Hwan, Kim Won Hae, and Hwang Yong Hee decorate the narrative with the expected immersing portrayals.


The Anticipated Compelling Cast Line-up

First, Lee Seung Gi (Kim Jeong-ho) fell in love with Kim Yu-ri (Lee Se Young).

Kim Yu-ri, portrays a lawyer and tenant who opens “Law Cafe” on the first floor of Kim Jeong-ho’s (Lee Seung Gi) building. Her character is sketched with a unique personality and loveliness.

Next, Kim Nam Hee, who has captured viewers’ eyes in Mr. Sunshine, Search: WWW, and Netflix’s Sweet Home, plays the role of Park Woo-jin, Kim Jeong-ho’s cousin and the head of the psychiatric department, exuding comfort and unexpected side.

In addition, Kim Seul Gi, who received attention for her vivid performances in Discovery of Love, Oh My Ghost, and Find Me In Your Memory, plays girl crush Han Se-yeon, a police officer.

Oh Dong Min, who showed off a wide range of characters in Doctor Prisoner, Kingdom, and Exit, suits up into the role of Do Jin-gi, the chef of the Italian restaurant ‘Gnocchi’ in Seoyeon High School 4, who is in charge of the senses and humor. He is also the husband of Han Se-yeon.

Additional Star-Studded Supporting Actors

On the other hand, the star-studded supporting actors: Jo Han Chul, Jeon Guk Hwan, Jeon No Min, Kim Won Hae, Hwang Young Hee, and Jang Hye Jin, will be responsible for controlling the strength and weaknesses of the drama with great acting skills, doubling the sincerity and vigor of the drama

Jo Han Chul, who plays Lee Pyun-woong, the CEO of Dohan Construction and Jeon Guk Hwan exuded heavy charisma as the representative of Dohan Group.

Jeon No Min appeared as Kim Seung-won, the father of Kim Jeong-ho and the chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office.

Hwang Young Hee played the role of Kim Yu-ri’s mother Song Ok-ja, showing maternal love for Lee Se Young. Meanwhile, Jang Hye Jin will show off her nagging power as the owner of Happy Super, Kim Cheon-daek, drawing out pleasant energy.

The production team said,

“It will give you the spectacle of a romance between the Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young. We ask for a lot of anticipation and interest in The Law Cafe.”

The Law Cafe premieres on September 5 on KBS2 and will stream simultaneously on Viu.
