MBC’s new drama, The Season of Kkokdu, introduces its female lead through the release of character stills.
Slated to launch on January 27 – 꼭뒤의 계절 The Season of Kkokdu (LT) chronicles the story of Kkokdu (Kim Jung Hyun), the “god of death” who comes down to the earth every 99 years to punish humans. He meets Han Gye Jeol a visiting doctor with mysterious abilities.
Im Soo Hyang takes on the role of Han Han Gye-jeol, a specialist in emergency medicine who fills up her lack of career specs with ample diligence. Due to the label of being from the lowest medical school in the country, she is labeled as a doctor without qualifications and even sued by the patient’s guardian, but she has a strong personality and stood up for herself bravely nonetheless.
The job offer of Do Jin-woo (also played by Kim Jung Hyun), a professor of surgery, given to her when she is about to run out of strength in the ongoing ordeal, will be like rain during a drought.
However, her life is turned 180 degrees when Do Jin-woo who feels gravitated to her, suddenly changes overnight and calls himself KKokdu, the god of the underworld. Eventually, she discovers her ability only works for the two characters, and her daily life is going to become more turbulent.
Correspondingly, the published photos of Im Soo Hyang’s show her busy life as a doctor. Albeit hardships, she continues to serve when a patient needs one. Thanks to her mysterious ability, even though she shares an unusual fate with Kkokdu, her positivity would help her withstand adversities.
In another picture wearing a hanbok, she gives off a completely different vibe. Her past relationship with Kkokdu and how it affects his reincarnated soul in Jin-woo is a point to watch in the series. At the same time, it is curious how it affects Gye-jeol’s current life.
The Season of Kkokdu will be broadcast for the first time on January 27 on MBC.
