Coupang Play and Genie TV have officially greenlit and locked in the cast for their upcoming original series UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force—with full-scale filming kicking off this June, anticipation is building fast for this quirky action-comedy.
Created by Ban Ki-ri (Missing: The Other Side), written by Kim Sang-yoon, and directed by Jo Woong (Justice, Quiet Sales), UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force delivers a fresh twist on the hero genre. This time, it’s not about saving the world—it’s about saving the neighborhood. The story centers on a ragtag team of former elite soldiers who dust off their skills, not for national security, but to protect their families and local community.
Yoon Kye Sang stars as Choi Kang, a mild-mannered insurance investigator with a past in the elite JDD unit, though most believe he’s never even served. Jin Seon Kyu plays Kwak Byung-nam, a former HID counter-terrorism officer turned hardware store owner and president of the neighborhood youth association.
The two actors reunite after their memorable performance as gangsters in The Outlaws, promising to deliver explosive chemistry once again. Rounding out the cast are Kim Ji Hyun as Jeong Nam-yeon, the sharp owner of Mammoth Mart; Go Kyu Pil as Lee Yong-hee, a martial arts instructor with a Special Forces background; and rising star Lee Jung-ha as Park Jeong-hwan, a brainy student from Seoul National University.
Produced by Studio Genie, Hi-Zium Studio, K Connected, and 221b, the series promises high production value with a playful blend of action, comedy, and heartfelt local spirit. With its offbeat premise, colorful ensemble, and top-tier creative team, UDT: Our Neighborhood Task Force is shaping up to be one of the must-watch Korean dramas of late 2025.
Set to premiere in the second half of 2025 on Coupang Play, Genie TV, and ENA—get ready for a neighborhood watch like no other.
